You deserve to have so many more views to your channel than you have. I've been collecting vintage watches in over 30 years, and you have addressed many of the pitfalls that many novice watch collectors should watch out for. This video was really well constructed and your example watches would be the envy of most collectors. Keep up the good work. :-)

Hi man 🙋♂️ thanks for your kind words, it’s much appreciated! We are still making mistakes and will continue to make some in the future. Collecting watches is a shark tank that becomes flatter from year to year. We are happy if this video prevents one or the other wrong purchase :)

Really useful video. I wish you had posted it many years ago when I started buying on the web. I stumbled into some fakes (but also some good watches) as I didn't have any guidance like this.

One thing I've notice is that a lot of sellers got like 10 pictures of the dial, even outside of the case, the picture of serial number and everything but NO picture of the movement, I find that shady
@GoldammerVintageWatches10 ай бұрын
In most cases, caution is advised when movement shots are not offered. Either the dealer wants to deceive about something, the watch is pressure tested and therefore should not be opened and there are especially with vintage watches cases that are very very difficult to open (eg monocoque cases). But yes, that is rather the rarity....

All very well, in my case, would be buying online from a very good seller from their store, after buying from them on eBay, can trust their description on their store without actually handling their watches, if I were buying from a second hand market, would only buy from a well established dealer that specialises in those watches.

I just want one vintage watch. A 1960s Tissot Seamaster or (if I can stretch to one financially) an Omega Seamaster. I'm going to have to buy from a reputable dealer because there are so many Frankenstein watches out there and an untrained eye like mine will be easily duped.

No , the value of vintage watches has -in most of the cases- nothing to do with the typend movement. It’s more about the condition & rarity of the watch 🙌

I’d disagree. I presently own more watches than days in the month. Only two have been bought brand new. The rest vary in age from the 1930’s to the 1990’s. I haven’t had my fingers burnt yet.
