Another great video, about the Data 2000 Seiko. I didn't know about the keyboard providing exclusive control wirelessly and the need to check with the seller on its capability. Great tip, thanks so much!

I had one of these in 1990. It didn't last long until it broke. Returned it to the shop and got a Casio with an altimeter and depth gauge.

Hi, great videos! Congrats for your collection. Quick question. I’m a beginner in these watches. Today I replaced the watch battery, shorted it as indicated and started exploring it. The first few times it showed the 4 programs under applications, however at some point it started showing only two programs, Demo and Schedule. Did I delete 2 by mistake? What am I doing wrong ? Is there a reset for this or the ROM is starting to fail ? Many thanks

Thanks for the warning about the fragile coil. I bought my UC2000/2200 years and years ago just after the model was released but stopped using it when the battery depleted. I've ordered a few batteries and hopefully they will get it going again. The UC2200 appears to work, or at least the printer side does, as it prints the transmission error when I attempt to communicate with the lifeless watch. Time to renew my old basic skills .. hehe ⌚️

The UC2200 is a reliable piece of equipment and I have never seen one that has issues, as for the watches many have broken coils but if you are the first owner you have a high chance of having a good one :)

Thanks for the video! I'm looking for some advice: I've found someone selling the watch and the keyboard for $100 (great cosmetic condition, but the transmission circuit is broken. Is it worth it to buy and fix the coil?

100 USD for a nice looking watch with the keyboard is a good price, if you can get the coil to work it is a super deal.

VDW - love your page. I have a UC2000 that is not functioning correctly. I replaced the battery and was very careful to not damage the coil, but she does not work. Can you repair it or can you recommend a service center? I will reach out to Seiko Service Center USA tomorrow.

I have the Seiko Data 2000. I need to replace the battery. Ive removed the back. Do I need to remove that metal piece over the battery held with 4 screws or can the battery just slip out. Just wanted to check before trying. Thanks

You have to remove the metal plate from the 4 screws.

Thanks for this channel on youtube. I am a computer scientist who has in mind to create new applications for Seiko Data 2000. This week I bought a seiko data 2000 and a seiko 2200 keyboard (pending arrival). I know that I can create a BASIC program with the 2200 keyboard, but I don't know if this program is recorded on the clock to run whenever you want. To exit BASIC mode, if you use the F10 key (Shift + F5), the program remains in memory. as a program loaded from the rom package? thanks a lot

Yes it might help, but a faded screen is a common fault on digital watches.

How many turns of the coil were there?

It depends what gauge wire you plan to use, that will give you the resistance/meter and you can calculate how many meters you need and divide that into turns. For a wire that is 0.0025 mm in diameter you will need around 1200 rotations to be in the OK zone of 3-5 Kohms.

I have just tested it and, in my case, UC 3000 cannot be programmed in BASIC with UC 2200. If you press the BASIC key nothing happens in the watch. Interestingly, the contrast can be set, so there is a bit of compatibility. See this other video as well: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o9N7gKqbud-poYU.html

depends, the watch plus the dock can go for anywhere 200USD to 400USD.

You would focus the watch scree. Can see nothing about the words or codes appearing in the watch's screen

The camera I had at that point was lower quality, but if you are watching on a phone you are not helping yourself either, also listen to the comments as I describe what I am doing.
