Great days, when British wrestling was at its peak. Used to love going to my local hall to watch the wrestling in the 80s and early 90s

Yank wrestling is steroids and heroine; Young David and Dynamite Kid should have stayed in Britain.

Typical ITV World of Sport...trying hard to make something recorded look "live". But even as a kid of 8 I knew it wasn't kosher. Loved it of course, and Cup Final Day was a real national event in those days, not the joke it has become now.

40 years ago and so many wrestlers have now passed away. Even Young David died in 2002 aged only 39. He started off skinny as hell and ended up bloated by steroids. Refs Dave Reece and Jeff Kaye have also gone. King Ben (not Benn!) was Ben Boothman who's son was Mark 'Kid' McCoy. His bout should have decided by the ref on points.

Shame is that even by 1980, ITV had wiped all the 50's 60s and most of the 70's bouts from their archive
