I bought my KR 5600 in 1978 and have had it ever since. As he just reviewed, it has great sound and ample power with steady tones throughout the volume range.

This is an awesome rig. I picked up this receiver at a thrift shop for 5 bucks, yes 5 dollars. Brought it home and gave it a good cleaning and it looks and plays as good as yours. I Love that is has 2 phono jacks and has that vintage 70's look. You can't go wrong with this Kenwood it's built to last.

I have the Kenwood KR - 4600 , an I bought it in 1975 ,you need to have a graphic equalizer to really make any receiver sound dynamic.I found a 20 band BSR equalizer at Goodwill for $10 an took out my 10 band Sound Shaper an put in place the BSR ,makes a big sound quality difference!! The highs an lows an midrange sound dynamic!!

Love the Kenwood KR 5600 and I one I used in my small studio apt. in San Francisco, I got a couple of years ago from this guy off Craigslist for $100. I also like the Kenwood KR 7600 and someone was selling one last year on Craigslist for $350, of I had the money, I would’ve bought that monster receiver and looked so nice. You’re right, the sound on this receiver and this series is incredible.

That Kenwood is a lovely receiver I want to add one to my collection. I had to say IBM made the first smart phone in 1994 not apple, Samsung 2001, Palm Treo 2002, Motorola followed 2004 and Apple 2007. 😉

I found my Kenwood KR-4600 with Marantz hd44 speakers on a trash container Imagine seeing a person throwing himself headfirst into the garbage can, literally throwing my head, I loaded the receiver plus the two baffles far away, to date it was my best find.

congratulations.....5 dollar??? how is that possible? you are a lucky guy, i never have that luck. I paid much more for mine and sold it for 100 euro and 100 euro is 130 usa dollar!. It have a nice strong bass, I think it will make your ears happy, If you have to change the bulbs, watch my other video and see how i made a solution in a kr 6600, because the original bulbs are nowhere to find. I just bought a kenwood kr-7050(2x80 watt) this thing play so nice, the video will follow soon.

Receiver tone control settings depend on the speakers that are connected

first take the lamp out and check if the lamp is realy broken, watch my other video from bulb replacing on the end how to do that. If the bulb is ok than the stereo itself is broken. if the bulb is broken kenwood always write on the white plastick which voltage they use, you need to order the same size, probably a 3 or 4 mm bulb and try to buy one with the same wattage. so for example if you need a 12v/0,3A = 3.6 W. is the same as a 6v /0.6A you can have a margin of 15% so between 3.1W and 4.1W

Ik had Gunther aan de telefoon en hij vond de pioneer 1250 beter klinken dan elke marantz, heeft me wel nieuwsgierig gemaakt. IK hoop binnenkort een receiver tegen te komen waarvan alle potmeters enorm kraken, ga een test uitvoeren met kontakt 60/90/wl/tuner600 deoxit en het huismerk van karwi wat ik nu gebruik de skandiaelectro contact spray.... iedereen heeft een mening maar pas als je ze tegelijk test weet je het zeker......

You should get the Kenwood KR 4070 and test it against the KR 5600. It's the same wattage and came after this one.

I have a marantz 2238 and my blue gauges have little yellowish lights in between the numbers and looks amazing, especially with the original wood case, much better then the kenwood.
