"You & Me" was the theme for ABC-TV's 1980 promotional campaign. ABC affiliates created customized versions of this promo that intercut their local on-air talent with glimpses of the network stars.
After the network promo are three local spots that were made by KOLO-TV in Reno, Nevada.

Of all of the people featured in this video that we've lost, I miss John Ritter the most.

Network stars showing up to Everytown, USA to paint a wall to advertise their network - Was the idea that with only 3 channels available, America will love ABC and just keep the dial there all the time?

When networks took pride in what they showed...such a major shame this day in age knows nothing of things like this

I also noticed Jackie Earle Hayley. Of course, in the short-lived Breaking Away series!

It is neat to see the different stars from different shows interacting with each other as well as these people they are interacting with

Don't remember this one, but it's a great find. This is when networks actually cared about their actors/actresses and the quality of their shows. Now it seems that all they care about is putting on stupid reality shows and forgetting about family programing.

+S K Do you remember a shorter commercial with a slightly funky version of the "You and Me and ABC" song and the announcer listing different stars as they're dancing to the song? I've seen commercials similar to this one but not the one I remember. I recall that Dianne Kay was one of the people whose names he announced.

Not bad for 1980! At a time when disco music was still alive.

Unfortunately, because of the 1980 WGA Strike, most shows didn't premiere until between November 1980 and March 1981.

Shirtless Cameron Mitchell at 2:48! Arrrgghhh! What a hunk! I just looked on imdb.com and saw that he was in a pilot, Turnover Smith, also starring William Conrad and Belinda Montgomery, July '80. Even in his 60s! He was such a hunk, even fully clothed during his guest appearances on Fantasy Island, Charlie's Angels, Vegas, and Incredible Hulk (I still need to see the latter two)! Speaking of Charlie's Angels, I'm surprised this promo doesn't show Jaclyn, Cheryl, and Tanya, who I remember seeing in lots of magazine and newspaper ads to promote what would be the series' final season, despite low ratings. In fact, I remember later on in the '80-'81 season with more ABC promos, seeing all three of them and sometimes with David Doyle.

Meet many of the stars at affiliate meetings in Hollywood...So many were so damn nice BUT biggest A Hole was Tattoo from FI...What a jerk! He was truly one messed up individual...Ritter sang the USC fight song with me as we lived in frat houses next to each other in '66 n '67...Say, anyone know who wrote this ditty? It was arranged and edited so perfectly...To this day it remains the finest network promo film I have ever seen...

It's incredible what a difference there is in Video clarity compared to watching this 15 years ago on other websites. It especially makes it easier to figure out who some of the old stars were. For example; I ALWAYS thought it was Tom Hanks at the 3:54 point, but it's actually Paul Kreppel from "It's a Living". Same goes for Ron Carey @ 3:39 who I always thought was Danny DeVito. What a difference technology makes.

That was really nice to watch...it's a little different than you'd expect than these types of promos (although at first I wondered if they were going to use the Alice Cooper song). Nice of them to have so much of SOAP's cast, as this was their last season. I think the old man at the paper stand was the innkeeper in Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.

Isn't that Jennilee Harrison at 3:05? Who would replace Suzanne Sommers. Yet the producers of Three's Company didn't change the opening/intro. to include Harrison and sadly delete Sommers.
