porcelain tiles can last decades but Vinyl only several years.

Porcelain tiles itself, if you get from normal suppliers (Lian Sen Hing, Soon Bee Huat, Hafary - 4-5$ psf) is actually cheaper than luxury vinyl ($7psf etc). The problem with tiling is that you need to do add costs for hacking, and then labour to do the subfloor cement, and then the laying of the tiles. Vinyl floor, the installation cost is built into the vinyl pricing itself. But to me, if can afford the time and money, porcelain tiles is better. Vinyl is just a covering on the original floor. Btw, your vinyl floor, after a few years, it scratches . So there are additional maintenance costs over the years. Also take note that sometimes, there are additional costs to make good your original flooring (for eg if the original floor is not flat enough). If the original floor is cement screed, may even have to do masonry work like leveling of the floor (which is considered wetwork) and therefore addional chargeable. Whereas porcelain tiles, if done properly, will last you decades. Fyi, I have done both type of flooring before in my renovations. For your quite new condo, i believe the flooring still good condition, so vinyl flooring not an issue.

SPC flooring warps lesser, is more heat resistant, waterproof and damage resistant than vinyl, no? SPC seems more suitable for Singapore than vinyl

Solar film quite standard for house window. No regulation ma. So don't need buy branded. The guy that do my car do my hse for me. But I will choose those reflective or those that is cheaper since there no regulation like car.

tile flooring got cement to hold the tiles in place. Vinyl flooring the "tiles" just latch to one another and nothing to "secure" them to the ground??

I also make vinyl for bedroom, step feel is very different fr laminate or parquet flooring. The contractor also told me they can replace center piece in the event of defect or damage. But do note the edge clip will be cut away if they do replacement as there is no way they can insert w the clip, u may clarify w yr supplier. Mine though a good brand but workmanship so so. These days can’t expect much.

Laminate is a very bad alternative and cheaper. Actually nowadays u don't see laminate already. It spolit too easily. I suggest you call singafloor to clarify if what you are told is correct. Laminate you can feel a soft landing or a floating feeling when you walk. It diff from parquet. Also nowadays u see lesser parquet. Mostly engineered wood that cannot be sanded multiple times.

depend on the condition of your original floor. the floor need to be in good reasonable and flat surface to install.

@@AaronLin88588488 generally no need. But I believe there will be exceptional cases. Anyway one point to note also that when u do levelling of existing floor, u add a few mm to the floor. Then u add your vynil planks another 8 mm, then your floor becomes 10 to 15mm higher than bedroom floor. Some people dont like this. Main door, may have to take down and plane off a few mm so that it can open in. These are additional considerations. Of course, overall, still cheaper than hacking off whole floor and relay with porcelain tiles. Just to share, I did my vinyl from floor Gallery. Havent tried singafloor 😄

As you mentioned vinyl is plastic, it's not good for occupants inside the house. Just like a car, inside got a lot of plastic materials, so people advise to open the car doors to ventilate the air before go in and drive the car . You should use timber stripes, it is healthier for your family members.

Haha like this many of us will have died 🤣, plastic is everywhere. And its tested by some environmental cert. So dont worry

timber planks, ie real timber, is ex. Reason why people go for vinyl is that its a cheaper option and replicates the look (and sometimes, texture) of timber floor. Also, vinyl flooring the price includes labour, and the installation is clean (no hacking of floors). For all these reasons, vinyl flooring has become the go-to solution for flooring in many a homeowners renovations.

@@andyskw8932 they got some green cert from sg. Normally the china one is 3 tick. Korea one 2 tick. I think

My contractor Dad also recommend China vinyl vs Korean vinyl. Actually depend on the brand also. I went down to the factory and the lady boss say got 1 Korean batch can discount to 1psf cos after you lay, some pieces not even. Usually China vinyl less problem for them. Another problem seldom discuss is the stepping feel. Some will feel too hard, you can lay a cushioning layer, only few cents psf. Depends on your existing floor also.

Vinyl got many brands. I went with Vinyl Vista because coincidentally both my ID and Dad also recommend. But they more of wholesaler type. My first house vinyl is wood culture from Hafary. My dad don’t like but I use 9 years no issue. Vinyl got brand but not all the branded is good. Sometimes just marketing. There a reason behind for this video tag line.. haha
