Well it's very tempting to make the compilation, and maybe doing unique edits to the 1968 disc (mono mixes to stereo were made by a few Beatles fanatics which sounded great!) Loved the Zappa album but will take a listen to the others that you mentioned. Yes, I do wish I had those covers too.

Its not really a musical, it was a boxset entitled "Läther" that had ZiNY, Sleep Dirt, Studio Tan, and Orchestral Favorites plus some other stuff. It was actually released in 1996 on Rykodisc. The musical he is probably referring to is Hunchentoot, which he thought up in 1972 and is referenced in 3 tracks. Its based on his conceptual continuity (referencing earlier works and building on stuff, Hunchentoot was simply referenced in the 3 tracks via the character in the remix of it)

As one offs I see no moral problem with doing lathe cuts for those Beatles covers. Go for it.

The Ozzy box set has Augmented Reality (via app) for the box itself as well as all of the posters. It is pretty fun to play with.

I did buy the RJ Thompson album, really enjoyed it, loved all three sides, planning on getting one of his other releases. I'm now interested in that Anamanaguchi album, hopefully there is more in stock on PolyVinyl, whom I've become obsessed with through their releases of Hazel English, Yumi Zouma, Ladyhawke and others.

The three Zappa albums (Sleep Dirt, Studio Tan and Orchestral Favorites) were part of a contractual settlement with Warner Bros. Zappa appeared on Saturday Night Live and held those three albums up and said, "Do not buy these albums" because they were not the way he wanted them released.

Speaking of hypothetical Beatles albums, you should check out Everyday Chemistry if you haven’t already. It basically takes solo songs by all four Beatles and sort of mashes them up to create new songs. Its a really interesting listen, and I think you might like it

I have the same music taste as you and I will definitely check out “folk songs from the 21st century” , I wish you did more of your Exotica/ tiki picks . Have you heard of the band Ape-Supersonic ? I recently discovered them and wanted to share them with you if you haven’t heard of them . They are a new band out of the Bay area that make cocktail tiki surf rock music . Highly highly recommended!

Hey geek. I've commented this on other videos, but I'll do it again. Could you do a video explaining the ins and outs of finding REAL copies of "Introducing... The Beatles." ? There's so many real versions, on top of all the different counterfeits out there. Thanks!

Could you tell me if there is a source to get the Beatles' false start Rubber Soul album? That album was 'recalled' due to the false start on I'm Looking Through You, if I remember which song. I SAVED mine! The man I was married to at the time was a jerk and took my album and sold it! That must have happened (him selling it) in the late 70s or early 80s. I would love to be able to replace that album, but cannot find it. And I LOVE your Vinyl Rewind films! Thanks!

You just need to find the STEREO version of the US Rubber Soul album. Not MONO, it won't have the false start. Keep searching around in used record shops. The album is not overly rare and hard to find. Good luck!

Sleep Dirt was part of a trilogy of records that was supposed to be one piece. He was so pissed he actually released the album via FM radio and told people tape it before the chopped up release came out. He later released it as intended as the album, Lather. Unfortunately, not the first augmented reality cover - I remember watching a video of a guy showing off a record cover and you used an app to make the album cover come alive (but I don't remember the name of the album now).

Ive been thinking about cutting a '70 and '71 beatles album for a while now, but like you said, there is no legal way to do such thing... I think i'll stick to cassette tapes when it comes to that idea.

Can you do a video about Japanese vinyl? According to audiophiles the Japanese record production methods in the 1970s/80s were best in the world, and highest quality. I think it was Toshiba that produced albums on red plastic. So foreign artists on Japanese records are a bit of a collectible these days.

If you like Michael Weber’s stuff there’s a band called Perturbator that is exceptional, I won’t say better because everyone has their own tastes but most certainly check them out
