A violent confrontation on a city bus today in Montebello. The trouble started when a passenger in a wheelchair asked another man for some space so he could get off the bus. Dave Lopez reports.

You probably don't know how law enforcement works do you?. It's easy for you to criticize them for showing up 20 minutes late. I've been to a lot of ride longs with the sheriffs department, and let me tell you they get loaded with calls sometimes. They were probably dealing with another call before they were dispatched to this one. Just make an appointment for a ride along and see how easy it is.

At what moment would using or brandishing a firearm be acceptable in these situations? California is not a gun friendly state to begin with and you're only supposed to use equal or reasonable force to protect yourself. I doubt some old fat unarmed guy would be an imminent to anyone's life with other people around to step in (which one of them did). And the other guy that got stabbed was attacked at random from behind so he would have never seen it coming regardless of being armed or not. You would go to prison

I feel so bad for the guy that got attacked. It was uncalled for. The attacker just seemed to hate life and vet angry at everything. Hope they find him and he gets charges for what he did.

20 minutes??? Go figure. In 20 minutes this guy could have hit All the passengers on the bus and drank a cold pop. Geeze, 20 minutes.

"No-one touches me, You hear!!!!" seems such a weird overreaction by the culprit as an explanation. All kinds of things can make people over-react to sudden touching. Medication, high blood pressure, previous episodes of assault. Courts would probably reduce any sentence if the effect could be shown to be in play. Not a moral excuse, but you do hear of courts making that kind of allowance. Pity in that kind of circumstance a passenger doesn't have someone (a friend/relative?)with him/her to help calm them down. My deep sympathies for the man in the wheelchair - it must have been frightening, painful and insulting. I hope he got compensation and an apology.

20 mins to respond to an emergency... that is insane.

The dude in the wheelchair needs to purchase some cannisters of pepper spray, then go apply for his CCW & spend quality time @ the range. This ever happens again, he can handle it.
