I prefer the sound of the Oblgatos on your violin. They have a richer sound with more depth.

I slightly prefer the obligato, as it is more mellow to me. But Evah is definitely clearer in my opinion

Obligatos are very bad on your violin, because your violin is extremely dark and mellow. EP Golds also don't sound great, it lacks brilliance.. You should try Evah Green, Infeld Blue or Dynamo.

I heard dead sounds with no colors and brighter set of strings would probably help a lot.

Actually I never considered this violin to be dark or mellow - rather shrill on the e string. 😁 Therefore I found the Obligatos a good choice. Probably it’s also a matter of taste (I don’t like bright and shrill sounding instruments and prefer dark and mellow ones) and of music style (for classical music bright violins do sound good, but for jazz I prefer darker ones).

I don't know if the device I recorded this with is capable of reproducing anything close to the real sound. But it certainly didn't sound “dead” as I put new strings on the violin on the day of the video recording. And in the first few days after changing strings, all strings have a great resonance. But apart from that I actually like dark and mellow sounding violins - especially for jazz music.

@Daviduarte_27 What do you mean with: “Obligatos E is just a gold label E…”? Do you mean something like “not the best quality”? During the last half of the year I was really unhappy with the shrillness and skqueaking of the e string. Then I changed all of the strings (at that point they were 1 year old) to a new set of Evah Pirazzi Gold and now it sounds better. So my theory was that the e string was somehow broken after 6 months - so it started squeaking especially when I played an opened e string.

@@ElinaViolina It means that the Obligato steel E is not special or unique, it's the famous Gold Label E (Gold Wondertone) that so many people use. The E of EP Gold is different, more powerful and higher tension.
