I watched the entire video with great interest. I started playing the viola (not violin) a little over 20 years ago at age 55. Because I had played the piano all my life and accompanied string classes for 5 or 6 years, I knew a few things about playing a string instrument. I started learning the viola by playing in a small chamber group and later moved to an orchestra. I'll never be a soloist (except in string quartets) so the solo techniques demonstrated in the video clips are fascinating. Someone, probably you, put in a lot of time finding the clips to use here. Thanks so much for the detail. I have come across and played all of the orchestra techniques at various times. (I was just relieved to learn that there weren't another 25 orchestra techniques that I needed to learn!)

Love your chopping! Didn’t know about that technique! Must learn it somehow 😀 I think you missed Sul Ponticello in orchestral playing? And harmonics in solo playing require a good certain bowing technique (I think - although there is no name for it). And left hand pizzicato doesn’t require the bow at all 😂 Finally I think tremolo requires THREE lines not two, since that is only repeated semi-quavers. Thank you for your excellent compilation though. It is very useful and entertaining ❤

I've just begun my journey learning to play violin and was so enthralled by the first few techniques that I watched the video from start to finish without stopping lolz 😂😂😂 it is unbelievable how many different type of bowing technique's there are! It's going to be a life long journey trying to master each one of these! I am very impressed and yet slightly intimidated by the amount of work it will take to master even just one single technique!
