Raw footage from the recording of the bass solo for 'Phainesthai' off the new Vipassi album 'Lightless', out January 26th through @seasonofmist , and which was all recorded on fretless bass.
The intro 5-note lick is pre-composed (and an homage to Sean Malone's solo intro lick on Cynic's song 'Textures') and then the rest of the solo is a re-learnt improvised take that included a new ending that I wrote to flow better into the following bass part.
I'm playing my Carillion Promethean singlecut 6 string fretless bass with Rotosound strings and Bartolini pickups.
