Thanks for the video. My pool seems to not be clear after 3 shocks already. I removed as much debris as I could. (Hard to see for how murky the water is). I also replaced the sand in the filter last summer, as I was having issues with keeping the water clear. I suspect possibly a faulty multiport valve. Any advice on how to pinpoint the issue?

If pool is green at all, test the PH a d drop to 7ppm.and shock. If it's cloudy, test the alkalinity and raise that up to 120 to 150. Retest PH 24hours later. Put a clarifier in also. Balancing of chemicals and filtration is key.

Hi, it's been 5 days since we open the pool. We have done everything you told us. But the pool is still very cloudy. We have a sand filter and we have notice that the pressure gauge is always high, it never moves, and no water ever goes in the sight glass either. We have a hayward vari flo xl filter, at this point we aren't sure what to do anymore. It's getting frustrating, the pool cloudiness is on the blue side not green so we got suggested to add more chlorine and calcium to balance the chemicals but we feel it's been so long now

@@karenpaolahernandez6407 could need a sand change. Get a new pressure gauge. See if there's a pressure difference by turning valve to recirc. If it's lower on recirc, you need a sand change. Balance your water, test water with a Taylor test kit.

How much chlorine did it take over the 3 days? Also, do you generally prefer liquid to the granular shock? Thanks!
@VIPPoolsandSpas
@VIPPoolsandSpas Жыл бұрын
For the pool in the video, I only used 8 cups of granular shock over the 3 days. This opening was in Ontario, Canada in April and the water was around 35F. If the pool was opened later, it would have been worse. Close late and open early. That's the trick. There's NO "pool school" that can say the exact amount to use. Too many variables. Use 4 cups of granule shock or 20L of liquid shock to start. Add more next day if needed. It's all about filtration really. I only use granule shock because I don't have to carry a huge amount of liquid shock that takes up space in the trucks.

Hey. Trying to open our pool. Have a jandy variable speed pump, with jandy filter and salt water filtration system. Have been having someone open and close for us until now. Have one piece in the basket that I can’t figure out where it goes.

Ok. Basket for the pump or basket for the skimmer?
@shellyapril6590

@@VIPPoolsandSpas It was the basket for the pump but we finally figured out that the piece attached to the manifold. We do have one more piece were some of the screws are up and we are not sure if that was part of the winterization process or if they permanently stay up to release pressure. I can send a picture over to confirm

How much shock do I put in on day 1? It's a 20,000 gallon pool
@VIPPoolsandSpas
@VIPPoolsandSpas Жыл бұрын
20L of chlorine or 4 little packs of granule shock. If you have a bucket of shock, put in 5 cups. If the water is below 70, use a bucket of hot water put in the granule shock, mix and pour around pool.

What did you use to clean the cover?
@VIPPoolsandSpas

20% or 40% Algaecide. Throw it on and brush down while its still connected to the deck pins. Release half the springs so it drops a little into the pool.

Mine is so dirty, I have been blindly scooping. I can’t see anything to know how much more there is in there or where it all is. I thought I’d just do some vacuuming on waste.

Just keep scooping and you'll get most of it.

Open as normal. Shock the pool. Put a skimmer sock in the skimmer to caught most.
