Amazing music played by an amazing organist. Thank you Virgil for bringing Bach to the young people.

I attended several of Fox's "heavy organ" concerts and must say they were indeed "mind-bending," and supremely entertaining. Fox was arguably the greatest organist of the 20th century and a consummate showman. What he did to make the organ and J.S. Bach accessible to the masses is incalculable. It was a sad day when cancer stole him from us.

BCS Technology Limited Yea. When I was 8 Mr Fox played the inaugural concert at an Episcopal parish my parents attended. Blew my mind.

A great concert with an absolutely great audience. Perhaps someday I can put more of the performance out for your enjoyment. David Snyder, Lumierist, Creator of Heavy Organ Touring Production

I beg you to do so David. I enjoyed so many of these concerts when I was young. They changed my life! I try to tell people about these experiences, but there's no way to do it justice without seeing.

@@citzie Well,,sorry so far I have not been able to see more of his music available,,but,,you might be interested in watching for the next limited printing of the only book that he,Virgil Fox, asked me to write, in which I tell the world shocking truths about him he kept secret all his life some of which will literally knock your socks off. It will only be available, once again from me. When it is printed again in a couple of months write to me for an order form for "The Secret Life of Virgil Fox" by David Snyder at davidanddiane@cabletv.on.ca Thanks for writing Ronald and blessings to you and yours.

This performance was not quite a typical one. Virgil had been asked by the television producer to really"go after the purists" to generate a viewer call in section of their program. So,he went out of his usual character on stage to show anger and to generate viewer call in's.

Actually, the "heavy organ" and lights began at the Fillmore East. Virgil himself said that his booking agent was out of the office and he answered the call and agreed to the terms and date. When his booking agent got back, he asked him - "What is the Fillmore East" ...after the person had recovered from laughter, he explained to Virgil the venue and what he would likely be in for ... I don't know if Revelation Lights did that concert, but it was the start. I remember there was a recording where some gal in the audience yelled out: "GOOOOO Virgil!" And being the showman he was, he replied without missing a note or a beat: "Johann Sebastian Bach and I are very glad you're here..."

@@williamshryock1784 Just read your comment...I pulled my copy of "Heavy Organ" and it was Joe's Lights that performed with Virgil. I saw Virgil in Grand Rapids, MI in November 1973 (still have my ticket stub) and at that concert/experience, It was David Snyder. I still get a little of the feeling I had at that concert even now, thinking about it. The best part was Virgil's playing Bach's "Passacaglia and Fuge In C Minor." And David's lights totally blew my mind. I was so used to the jejune "light shows" that I was NOT prepared for his work. Now days, it's all about lasers, fire pots, smoke, strobe lights, and video projection, which is fine with me, but you could get lost in David's working.

Does anyone know if any of these concerts were filmed in their entirety? I can only find short clips. Also ones where the Royal V is being used?

I think it’s a higher honor playing for church then in concert. If your called upon the almighty to play in a sacred church service what a higher honor
