We know from Our Lady's own promise that the Consecration will be accomplished "in the end." In the meantime She charged us to sacrifice ourselves for this intention and pray. Doubtless you wish to give proper honour to God here. But the Catholic Church teaches that Mary crushes the serpent's head. The Benedictus antiphon for the current Octave of the Immaculate Conception is: "The Lord God said to the serpent: I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she [IPSA] shall crush thy head, alleluia." Yes, the "Seed" of Gen 3:15 refers to Jesus, our sole Redeemer. But what follows can be read as "he" or "she". God has left both possibilities open because the final result is to understand is that our salvation is achieved by Jesus acting through Mary. It is a mistake to separate them, albeit Jesus is God and Man while Mary is a creature. Yes, Mary desires God's glory. But God desires honour be given to Mary, and God's Will is to be done. And Mary in her humility allows God to honour her, because precisely this shows how good and mighty God is, that He honours His creatures. Mary accepts the honours for crushing satan's head because, among other things, this demonstrates that God can create a human being who can defeat the mightiest creature, Lucifer: so the apparent weakness of matter (humans being embodied) has this dignity of triumphing over a rebellious spirit. Below are 3 quotes which show Mary the Mother of God is meant in Gen 3:15. In the bull, Ineffabilis Deus (8 Deb 1854), Pope Pius IX teaches infallibly: - with reference also to the Church Fathers: "These ecclesiastical writers in quoting the words by which at the beginning of the world God announced his merciful remedies prepared for the regeneration of mankind - words by which he crushed the audacity of the deceitful serpent and wondrously raised up the hope of our race, saying, 'I will put enmities between you and the woman, between your seed and her seed' [Gen 3:15] - taught that by this divine prophecy the merciful Redeemer of mankind, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was clearly foretold: That his most Blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary, was prophetically indicated; and, at the same time, the very enmity of both against the evil one was significantly expressed. And to your third point, the miraculous medal does not show anyone else crushing satan's head. If Mary's foot is on the neck, that is likely a practical point of artistic necessity (or on such a tiny image it would not be clear that the thing under her foot was a serpent). If you wish to strain a theological meaning into it, it could be that while the medal is powerful and is almost the crushing of satan's head, it is not quite there, but merely the neck. For the head something more than the medal is required, for example the full consecration and devotion of souls to Jesus through Mary. Have a blessed Advent!

The proclamation of the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception was infallible, but the rest of the document was not stated to be so. The issue being discussed here with the Miraculous Medal is not the manner of its efficacy, but rather the heavenly intended meaning of the (front) image. It would have been easy to show the foot on the head with no loss of clarity, perhaps with the foot in line with the head, but heaven deliberately (there is nothing accidental with heaven's miraculous actions) depicted the foot on the neck. And heaven is quite aware of the larger issue in this matter as regards Genesis 3:15! The Church has left both "he" and " she" open as translations. (BTW, that is not a matter of irreformable doctrine, and so not the same as God leaving both open.) St Jerome reportedly believed that the proper translation is "he". So in fact the Catholic Church does not doctrinally teach that it is Mary who crushes the serpent's head in the sense intended by Gen 3:15. Genesis 3:15 is the promise of a Redeemer. The Redeemer redeems, that is, he performs an action to bring about redemption. The actions specified here are "put enmity" and "will crush". In fact the putting of enmity and the crushing of the head are both inherent to the action of the Redeemer. Since God said that He will put the enmity, and since the Redeemer is the one who performs the action of this, the Redeemer is God as well as the seed of the woman. Yes, the doctrine of the Incarnation (and therefor implicitly the doctrine of Mary being the Mother of God) is contained here in Genesis. This discussion should not be concluded without a brief reflection of what "crush your head" actually means. The head is the seat of the intellect. The serpent had used his intellect to (blasphemously) insinuate that God was a Being basically motivated by selfish desire, in this case a desire to maintain superiority over Adam and Eve in the matter of special knowledge. As we now know, the Redeemer utterly destroyed this intellectual proposition as to God's nature being one of selfishness, by emptying Himself through not regarding equality with God as something to be grasped at, taking on the nature of a slave, and accepting even death on a cross. In doing all this the Redeemer (because He was God as well as man) revealed the truth that God is love, in decisive and eternal rebuttal of the serpent's proposition.
