Imagine being a 19 year old athlete on either side and experiencing this extraordinary sports entrance. My guess is it's something the players, coaches, staffs, and fans never forget. No disrespect to any other sports teams or venues, but this is the best introduction of gladiators on our planet. Well done Virginia Tech Hokies. You do your country, state, university, players, staff, and fans very proud indeed.

The one thing ESPN or any other network will never be ever to fully capture like you did… THE ENERGY and how truly loud Lane can get. People really think we lie about literally shaking the ground. How are you not famous? Seriously! Great work!

Dude....I'm a Carolina guy and I was at this game.....from 1:30 through the coin flip......goose bumps maxed out. It was awesome.....actual game not so much though lol A VR version is the only thing that could top this one. Nice work.

It still baffles me that this is a college game. That's like a university here in Europe (The Netherlands to be precise). This is bigger then a Champions League finale here, and that's like the biggest football game (soccer for you people) of the year in Europe. But then again, in the US everything has to be bigger...

Virginia Tech is sort of special compared to a normal college football team. Lane Stadium is famous for being a tough place to play (though recent years this has tapered off a bit) due to the insane crowd noise and how involved the fanbase is. Even said, this was a particularly special crowd because the fans had been kept out of stands for an entire year, and during that year, Tech was not very good. On top of that, the team they were playing, the North Carolina Tar Heels (UNC), was not only horrendously over ranked, but that UNC, despite never being much better than Tech, has been able to effectively steal high ranked recruits from Virginia for several years now. So there's alot of bad blood there as well. Oh, and it was a night game as well. Lane is always crazy during night games, since Tech made a name for itself playing in night games on nights there normally isn't football (most notably, Friday and Thursday.) Effectively, you had a perfect storm of a hated division rival team that's horribly overrated and has a bunch of players that maybe should be playing for Tech instead; facing an underrated Virginia Tech team that wasn't expected to do much (largely thanks to that recruit poaching) and was coming off its worst season in almost 30 years. Don't think it was universally praised though. I've seen a bunch of people on Twitter saying that everyone who went to this game deserves to die from COVID. I've seen a bunch of whiney old people complaining about the rowdy crowd.

So sad that when they broadcast these games they rip the heart, soul, celebration and sheer electricity out of the event. They replace it with commercials and lame commentary. Basically what you end up with is one big agonizing 3 hour commercial broken up by short disjointed football plays. Decades ago, believe it or not they use to show the school bands performing at half time. I guess today most people tape and FF through the game.
