Beautiful and historic Virginia & Truckee steam locomotives took turns on the track around the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City on 24 May 2015. haven't been to Carson City in a long time. use to volunteer at the museum and was on the train crew. nothing better then to work with this equipment. Thanks for the video.

nice footage . i have been there a number of times . enjoyed it . was with railtown at 1 time and we got to go there on a to view the behind the scenes . at least they have a place to run and the trains are encapsulated on the museum grounds . they dont have to relay non existant tracks , fight with freight lines to get trackage rights , etc. this was puropse built. i got to ride washoe zypher , a cool motor car. thanks for sharing.

Lovely to see the Inyo again - star of how many western movies? I can understand the problem; if that is the original boiler a day will come when they cannot steam her any longer. Replace the boiler and keep her running, but you lose the historicity of the locomotive. We had a similar problem over 'Lion' of the L&M. Fortunately she was steamed during the 1980's before the boiler's time ran out, often for tv film purposes, so we can still enjoy watching her run (and there is always the 'Titfield Thunderbolt')

Yes, you put it well -- every time a locomotive is refurbished with new hardware, it becomes a little less connected with the history it represents. Yet it is a joy to see another Nevada locomotive, the narrow gauge Glenwood, steaming because it has a new boiler. Something lost, something gained. Thank you for watching and commenting.

I STUDIED NEVADA HISTORY FOR TWENTY YEARS. I KIND OF GREW IN TO THE STATE AND ITS HISTORY. I EVEN LIVED IN VIRGINIA CITY WHERE ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE LIVED AND DIED. I FOUND IT VERY EXCITING

*Hopefully the Nevada State RxR Museum will have* the switches expanded to the point that the _Glenbrook,_ a 3'-0"-gauged 2-6-0 Baldwin Class 24-1/2 D contemporary of Virginia & Truckee River #22 (a 4-4-0 Class 27-1/2), can also run the curve, which is double-gauged.

I've heard that they keep the boiler pressure lower than when Inyo was new, to preserve the old locomotive. It is a graceful treasure to watch in operation.

AT ONE TIME I HAVE SEEN THESE OLD STEAMERS, AND THE MCKEEN CAR WASN'T RESURECTED AS YET IT WAS PART OF A PLUMBING STORE IT DOES LOOK GOOD. THEY HAD TO GET A CATERPILLER ENGINE THE ONE WELL IT GOT WASTED A LONG TIME AGO. I SAY THEY DID A GOOD JOB ON IT.IT WORKS THE SOUTHERN PACAFIC HAD TWO OF THESE AT ONE TIME. IT IS A STORY IN IT'S SELF.

I wonder why since they extended the V&T tourist train to near Carson City if it would have been feasible to connect with this museum railroad so that the 25, etc. could run up the V&T toward Virginia City? Or is the museum landlocked with nowhere feasible to build a new track to connect with V&T?

TRY DRIVING OVER THE RIGHT OF WAY IN A CAR IT WASN'T VERY SMOOTH THEREARE PLACES THAT I COULDN'T GO THOUGH LIKE THE FORMER SIGHT OF THE SMALL CITY THAT WAS BUILT AROUND A STAMP MILL.AND WAS NEAR TO THE CEMERTERY

GOING ROUND AND ROUND THERE WAS ONE TIME WHEN THEY WANTED TO PUT A TRACK DOWN THE BACK STREET THERE IN CARSON CITY AND BE ABLE TO GIVE RIDES ALL THE WAY BACK UP TO THE MEASUEM BUT THEY WIYKDN;T ALLOW IT'YHEY WOULD HAVE HAD TO TEAR UP THE STREET I USED TO GO UP THIS STREET GO DOWN TO THE INDIAN TOBACCOSTOTE TO GET MY SMOKIN I HAD ME AN OLD COB PIPE I SURE DO MISSI THOSE TIMES..

I HAVE BEEN THERE WAS THE RENOVATION OF THE MCKEEN CAR I WENT INTO IT THERE ONE TIME AND BOUGHT SOME PLOMBING SUPPLY'S

AT FIRST IT WAS A GREECY SPOON CAFE THEN PART OF A PLUMBING THE STORE WAS BUILT AROUND THE MCKEEN CAR

So this is track that was put back from VC to CC. From what I understand the right of way got all torn out in the late 50's early 60's and now it's back again. Not being knit picky but wasn't that a wast of time, money and labor? Don't get me wrong, I like that it's back but the original track (unless it and the ties were too far gone) should've been used

+chaosdemonwolf1 Thanks for watching! Actually there are two operations in the region that have connections to the old Virginia & Truckee. This video shows the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, on a loop of track, with sidings and an engine house, on the museum grounds that is a very effective way to showcase locomotives and cars in operation. Then, in Virginia City and extending toward Carson City by way of the town of Mound House, another steam railroad is rebuilding the original V&T right-of-way over time. If you ever have the opportunity to visit that part of Nevada when they are both operating, I believe you will find it most interesting.

The original rails were probably long since melted down for scrap - I understand that some of them were original rails sent from England (that is if you can trust Lucius Beebe's veracity on such matters) Rails and ties wear out and have to be replaced - ask the Tal-y-llyn.
