North Carolina built a double digit lead in the first half and kept No. 6 Virginia at arm’s length the rest of the way in a 71-63 win. It was a fantastic game from Pete Nance, as he put up a game-high 22 points on 7-10 shooting, including a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc. He also had 4 blocks, all in the second half. RJ Davis had a strong game as well, scoring 16 points on 5-10 shooting and pulling in 10 rebounds. For the Cavaliers, Jayden Gardner had a team-high 19 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Nance didnt just make his shots, he sought the action. His dads a dawg, his brothers a dawg, if UNC is gonna make some noise in March, he needs to be a dawg

Nance needs to play like this. If he does. UNC can make a run like last year. He hasn't been a good manek replacement. But it's better late than never.

Like I said earlier in the season, UVA might make it to the Sweet 16 round, but that's about it. They have been over-rated most of the year.

They aren’t overrated. They’re 21-6, 13-5 in conference with a winning record on the road and winning record against top 25 opponents. Also coached by one of the greatest in the game at the moment. If anything they have just exceeded expectations which they literally do every year.

@@tpd1399 Let's see how they rank tomorrow. They lost 2 games in a row to unranked teams and BC has a losing record, plus UVA is only tied for 3rd in the ACC..

Caleb Love was doing his best to shoot the Heels out of the game. Davis should of pulled him just like he did Bacot. Bacot doesn't show up for big games. Its the same pattern he either fouls out or gets some injury. How many double team did he get an he didn't find the open man where it was coming from. If Pete Nance would of showed half this effort all year they would not be in this shape. Puff Johnson played a descent game tonight an it seems when he is going the Heels click better but as Roy would say its better when the ball goes in the basket.

still not in every game is a must win..........for once nance competed and didn't play soft still would like for the bench to get a bit more burn....

good game but hubert need to play tyler nickel he hit 3pointer better than leaky black he to sub them out sometime i promise carolina will win more easy it will take pressure off your guards johnson save them first half and love need to play better defense he play wreak he is a good need to step up he wont play in nba that way tarheels need to play great defense like pete lance bacot need to get strong around the goal

Virginia doesn't get enough credit - if you really look at their performance in the league, and the play of all three against each other, Virginia - not Duke OR Carolina - has been the best team in the ACC over the last five years. SO, beating them is a real accomplishment. Anyway, all we have to do is run the table from this point forward. (I did get a kick out of the funny ESPN commentator who said, "We'd like to welcome North Carolina to the basketball season.")

Duke has dominated Virginia throughout history including the last five years. They swept the eventual NCAA winning 2019 team and have held Virginia to one away win in the last decade. On the flipside, I do see an argument for Virginia outplaying UNC but the ladder is much more consistent in post-season as well as against Duke.

@@andrewpaschall8992 Over the past five years - National championships - VA 1, Duke O ACC regular season titles - VA 3, Duke 1 ACC Tournament titles - VA 1, Duke 1 ...and not to mention that VA was consistently overperforming expectations while Duke was consistently underperforming expectations

@@BogartSlap if you add 2 more years Duke has 1 national championship, 2 regular seasons, 3 acc tournaments (You missed one btw), and Duke dominates Virginia in the ACC and NCAA tournament with Virginia's only elite eight appearance being the year they won. Also I was referring to their one on one records mostly, in which Virginia loses a majority of the time.

As a UVA fan , wow that was embarrassing and my fiance who is a UNC fan is eating it up smh lol . With all those defensive rebounds, if they would've actually passed the ball to each other and assist better instead of ball hogging and try to make the basket being heavily covered , Hoos could've won by close to 20 points easy but WTF.. how are they 6? Bennett are you being too soft with these players because if I was their coach I'd be busting some balls , they played like they purposely wanted to lose it was that bad of a performance. No way we're gonna win vs Clemson if we play like that .

@@shadowcomputingRanked number one at the beginning of the season and my friend now they are no where to be found they are GARBAGE AT ITS BEST, THEYDIDNT BEAT DUKE AND ALL THE DUKE PLAYERS ARE FRESHMEN OR HAVE LITTLE PLAYING TIME SO CAROLINA LOST TO BASICALLY HIGH SCHOOL BALL PLAYERS and i know they go back to chapel hill and will or might win but still they SUCK

Caleb Love, please go pro after this year! Maybe they'll teach you to play defense in the CBA. Chinese Basketball Association! Never seen a kid with worse body language on court. How does someone get worst on defense over the years!?!? Guy couldn't guard a parked car! He's atrocious, yet Hubert plays him 30+ minutes every game. It's ridiculous
