I tried to use a MODEL 3 emulator in it's early days and it was a nightmare. Was setting up the emulation for this pretty simple? I may take another whack at it.

I don't think so, I tried few times and it was just hard to configure the controls, but I use arcade stick

In over 3 decades I cannot think of one 3D arcade to console port that comes close to what is always touted as near arcade perfect.

Looks better than the dreamcast port.

That's because the Dreamcast port was rushed so that it could be a console launch title. Also, it was the updated Virtua Fighter 3tb that was ported, NOT the original VF3. VF3tb has different backgrounds (Jeffry's stage is at nighttime, for example), and a tag battle mode, plus numerous other tweaks.
