That's interesting you bring up VF & SF2T. The SF2T players I know in Washington/Oregon gravitate to VF more than any other 3D fighting game. Lots of similarities between them despite the extra dimension.

I went from 65% win rate to 48% and ranked down to 21 again… some tough matches and some spam matches. This game is hard

it is hard, but it is also the most balanced and fair game out there. All spam techniques are easy to shut down once you understand what is going on. You won't have a more balanced experience in any other fighting game out there. if anything, VF5 never gives you a false sense of accomplishment. Unlike most modern fighting games that have so many characters that carry the players.

I would say anyone around lvl24-30 is reaching a new stage in the way they play their game. Around mid level imo.

Most combo videos that use notation have numbers, but the best place to see inputs is here virtuafighter.com/commands/. It uses arrows though, but it's quite comprehensive.
