Can I play at venues legally with only a Virtual DJ Professional Users package?

@@_cr8ive_ If you DJ you don't need any licences for the music, that's on the venue you're performing at, just make sure you required your songs legally.

Nah, not simultaneously, but they're both installed, I use the VDJ for bigger gigs, I use the Serato for smaller gigs

Well VDJ scores my bpm properly than Serato, and then dj-ing at a concert is not same as dj-ing in a club

Right! Coming from traktor and trying out Serato it never made sense to me.

These comparisons never mention this important dealbreaker. Vdj also is more accurate analyzing tracks.

serato is minimal for the sakes of being more reliable. It is probably the most stable DJ software because of the restrictions they put on it.

I'm trying to use VDJ with my pioneer ddj 200 but cannot get the split cable to separate the audio coming out of my speaker + cue with my headphones. The sound alwys comes out of both even if I press only cue button 1 or 2. Do you know why this is?

@TEAMSF2 YT Channel 2 My dumbazz was plugging in the cables wrong. Anyway I upgraded to the DDJ800 so no more split cable error lol

It is certainly a technically very accomplished piece of software

We should maybe do a video on it sometime but for the most part it works and does the job! Nowhere near as polished as the "big 4" :)

I just tried Serato's DJ Pro one month for a dollar promo. I guess you have to spend an extra $100 to use video. Not interested in Serato at all, especially after it installed VS C++ and Quicktime on my computer. Serato is too much ish. I'll delete and continue using VDJ

Sounds like VDJ is the right choice for you :)

They all have same main features most DJs use. However vdj has more features and customisation capabilities than any DJ software out there. If you are planning on using many different hardware in future I suggest you go for vdj hence it works with almost every DJ hardware on earth, all future updates and addons are completely free forever if you have pro infinity subscription. Alternatively if your hardware is a native serato or rekordbox unlocked and you don't intend to change hardware then stick to the software that's bundled with your hardware, as they always work better. Finally try familiarise yourself with as many software as possible when you come across them cos you never know when you ll need them!

My wife and I are both singers and we want to incorporate DJ Ing into our gigs. We’ll be doing mostly weddings along with some restaurants. I like the idea of the Prime 4 and not having to use a computer so that the computer really doesn’t get in the way of us singing but I just don’t seem to see enough people using the Prime 4 yet so I’m apprehensive about pulling the trigger? It seems like a dream controller that not many people have just yet? I just hear stories of computers crashing along with having to spend two or $3000 for a computer and then another thousand dollars for a good controller where as I can just get the Prime 4 for $1500 and I’m done! I’m 49 years old just learning how to DJ now so I just want to buy one situation and be done with it. I’m sure they’ll be learning curves for me so I just want the one that is easiest to learn? Prime 4 is selling well and in your position from what you say, I'd go for it.

@@jimmysalvemini As an entertainer pls brace yourself for equipment failure at some point in your gigs hence no equipment is failure proof. Just make sure 1. It meets your DJ needs and also it has a good review from actual users (not from paid KZfaq reviews) don't ever think that an equipment is the best cos everyone is using as there re different factors that makes people buy gears which is mainly features, price and durability. Having said that I always advice DJs to have an inexpensive backup laptop and controller for easy recovery if you face breakdown in the middle of a gig. The worst thing that can happen is not being able to continue the show after an equipment failure. My back up is a used laptop with decent specs for about £300 and a small tiny controller numark dj2go2. I know some people ll be laughing 🤣😂🤔 for my controller choice but believe or not I ev used this little monster to do a 2 gigs successfully and it got the job done. Not that am saying they re the best but in emergency "when the desirable is not available, the available becomes the desirable"

@@digitaldjtips yeah I get that , but I was looking at them without a dedicated controller, so easy to see why I came to that conclusion .. but i understand serato is probably just as good if not better, when you have the right controller .. I'm looking to get my first controller , but I'm totally baffled as to what to get 🤷‍♂️

Depending on your options Serato will turn tracks blue/grey to signify a track has been played, it's just part of the user interface :)

Possibly with a skin, it already puts a red cross next to a track if you've played it but doesn't highlight the name

So you're not using Soundcloud as a streaming service in the software? If you have the tracks downloaded to your computer then you can make a mix and record the same as you would with any other tracks (hitting record in the software)

Yes, download a virtual audio cable like Loopback and route your DJ software through it to another recording software like Audacity, hit record and away you go.
