Virtual DJ 2021 Tutorial - How To Easily Update 'Year' Info Tag //// In this Virtual DJ 2021 tutorial, I’m showing you how to easily and correctly (well, at least most of the time) update your ‘year’ tag on all your song files. In the new Virtual DJ update if you’ve been wanting to fill in the blanks on your files with the correct year of the song release, all you have to do is click and Virtual DJ will update the field directly from Discogs.
This DJ tutorial will provide tips and tricks on how to do this in batches to ease the process even more.

Finally I can update my music files with the correct year without having to Google search every single one. Did you know about this new update in Virtual DJ 2021? Will you find it useful?

Discogs has been part of the Tag Editor for a long time, so you can actually batch edit tags see this image: www.virtualdj.com/img/297108/1283/missingdiscogs.png The new feature is to be able to edit in the file info pane which was previously unavailable :)

@@AdamWhytall Ahhh .. I'm a little confused then. Was there some part of it that is new with the latest build (since it was specifically mentioned in the update notes).

@@djkanoya it's just the ability to edit in the File Info Tab that is new. These fields were not editable previously

Thanks for this info . Very useful. One thing to watch though. if you've downloaded a remastered version of a track . it give the year it was remastered and released . not the original track year. Example. I Had David Bowie Modern Love (Remastered) it showed as 2007. not 1983 which is when the track came out. But as long as you spot these . its a good tool. thanks for sharing. X

Thanks for checking it out. And yes, I am in the middle of a huge batch of files, attempting to update the correct year. I'd say this method is about 75% accurate. Have you also noticed it will often populate the genre field with "Electronic"?

Yep you and me both .🙄🙄Electronic seems to be the default option. Luckily most of my music fall into this Genre anyway . So all good . 👍👍

Thanks for this tip, buddy. Quick question: where are these songs saved on your drive? Would it work if I was reading my serato crates or iTunes database inside of virtual dj?

My music files are just in a folder on my hard drive and then organized in various manners. I would assume that would work regardless of where the files live, since you are just editing the tag information.

The same way you did the batch erase of year you can add missing info from Discogs- at bottom where you can change artist- title file name order the fill in missing info from discogs can be checked to batch change a group

This is fantastic! Point to note though is that it only works if the artist and title are correctly tagged... at least from what I experienced.. It can take a while to download.. Although - there is a lot of music made in my country that isn't in the Discogs db so it is unable to pull the info for those... :(- But nevertheless - this is a HUGE help out.. !! Thanks a mil !

Some of the years will be off because of some cds that contain the tracks were released in a compilation such as a 'Best of Artist' or 'Greatest Hits' some years after the 1st recording. The same thing hapns on Shazam. They may pull the most recent data that can be found on the net for a track.

Add samples to a sample bank, within the sample sidebar menu. Best thing to do is search "virtual DJ sampler" here on KZfaq. There are a lot of helpful tutorials on that.

@@djkanoya yes . So much more this new version has that I'm still cant figure out how do I put my already made dj name inside the software
