This is one of my older hikes and is not as stabilized as my newly recorded hikes. This is still good for your use while working out on your treadmill.
My other treadmill use videos: • Virtual Hikes for Trea...
A website for hikers...www.treadlightly.org/
This is a hike inside the lush green forest of Olympic National Park in Washington state. It starts with a twenty minute hike to a mountain river, then back again. About the audio: It was extremely quiet during this hike, and so I added some soothing sounds of indigenous birds. Otherwise, all you would hear is my footsteps and my breathing, and the sound of my jacket sleeves, and an occasional snort by Sasquatch in the woods (lol). I recorded the bird sounds within the Pacific Northwest also - beside a lake in the mountains of Oregon. The Duckabush river roar and other sounds are the actual sounds on location.
This video is intended for those using treadmills, and for those who are mobility challenged. I hope you enjoy this and find it beneficial. Your comments and suggestions are welcome.

Wow, what a meaningful purpose you assign me - I feel more blessed now to make these hike videos. There will be many more of them, and I hope you will share them and continue to comment. Thanks Jolene - Jim Beer

Thank you for making it possible for me to see something I would not otherwise be able to see. I almost got lost in it and thought I was there. This is an important lesson in doing things while you are still physically able to do them. There was a time when it could have been me on the trail but that time has passed so thanks for letting me see through your eyes and walk with your legs.

Thank you ! Usually when I hike these paths I will think about the people who can't do so, and I'll see the hike thru their eyes in a way. It makes me feel like I am not alone even though technically I am alone on many of these hikes. Glad it means so much to you! :)

I "walked" through a well lit forest, I heard birds and I saw and heard rushing water, but what was the smell like? I imagined as I "walked" the smell of damp earth and rotting leaves. Lovely.

Thank you so much! I have treatment resistant epilepsy and cannot safely venture out on the trails like I used to but can use this along with my treadmill to recreate the experience!

This comment of yours is what I love hearing from people. I've been in your position in the past myself - unable to get out to places like this. Hearing from people like you is meaningful and I appreciate it very much. While on these hikes with cam in hand people come to mind, and what they might experience for themselves as they watch the video afterwards - thank you so much for commenting

thank you! a new favorite. Since I'm very far from North America now, in a desert part of South America where anything green is precious, this forest walk brought tears to my eyes. I'm hoping to go back to spend my elder years to BC, Canada where I've walked similar forests which I miss very much.

I just started doing virtual hikes on my treadmill, and this is my favorite so far. The reason that I like it is that I really feel as if I am on this walk with the host. The sight-line of filming is just above the trail while we are walking, and the only sounds are the birds, water, and the light crunch of the trail under foot. The host occasionally stops to give us a look at our surroundings, including trail signs, the forest, and streams. Once we get to the end of the trail, the host takes some time to enjoy the waterfalls. Thank you for a fabulous start to my day!!

Thanks for the kind words C W....some day too I'll be too old to traverse these paths and will watch these myself - unless a bear, cougar, falling tree, Sasquatch, or pack of rabid raccoons, gets me before my legs give out.

Are there no animals in de woods ( beside the birds) We must always be careful in Holland...
@TallSky
@TallSky 4 жыл бұрын
Holland has a beauty all it's own! Here, the animals are occasionally spotted on my hikes - one time even a bear caught on camera, and another time a bobcat. Usually though they skirmish away, of course, as they hear me approaching. Take care ~
