Inspiring discussion. The last time I really enjoyed country music was in the nineties. There were so many women's voices. Brava ladies.

I laughed and rolled my eyes too many times. I LOVE Martina and wish she and other women singers would be played more. As a woman, I dislike, strongly 'Bro-Country' and the same ole same ole sound. I don't listen to country much any more because of the silly songs that are and have been created for the last 6-8 yrs.

Im real tired of songs that glorify alcohol. And guys that Love fish more than Family. Also, throw those damn "saturday night specials" (guns) into the bottom of the deep blue sea. Thx, LS❣️ Sorry bout the sea pollution😘💙✊🏼☮️ How bout a happy song? Nothin wrong with silly little love songs. Dont have to be hugely dramatic, just kind & strong.

I liked the category ‘tractor rap’ that was floating around Montana 8 years ago. It’s probably a subsection of Bro-country. But anyway, it’s just as annoying as the clap tracks in the new folk scene. Stereotypes are fun. I identify as human, BTW. As John Prine once said, ‘some humans ain’t’.

Martina doesn’t think there has been any female superstars since Shania Twain or Faith Hill? Has she not heard of Carrie Underwood or Taylor Swift - who is probably bigger than all of them put together? I wouldn’t spend 5 minutes listening to any of them, but the problem is not a lack of “superstars”. The great news is that music is far more democratized now than it was in the time she is referring to.

Taylor is full pop now. Carrie Underwood is literally the only big female star in country. There were so many more in the 90s. Not just Shania and Faith but Martina, Trisha, Reba, Dixie Chicks, and the list goes on and on
