Let's take a virtual tour of the section from Kanazawa Station to Tsuruga Station, which is the construction section of the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
The Hokuriku Shinkansen opened to Kanazawa in 2015. Construction is currently underway in the section from Kanazawa to Tsuruga in Fukui Prefecture.
The section was scheduled to open in the spring of 2023, but construction is behind schedule and is expected to open one year later in 2024.
With this opening, the JR Hokuriku Main Line, which is a conventional line parallel to the Hokuriku Shinkansen, will be separated from JR and will be operated by Fukui and Ishikawa prefectures.
The JR Pass and Hokuriku Arch Pass will cover the Hokuriku Shinkansen, but will not cover conventional lines.

The fly through using Google earth is very professional and like your other videos well researched. Thank you for creating this.

Nicely Done 🙂I think when they complete the loop to Osaka there will be a lot of new investment in this area.

I wonder how the route departing to finish and connect the line from Tsuruga to Osaka would be since this is happening way out in the future, I think a video about the possibilities would be a nice addition love your videos, nice work!

I love many of the Shinkansen trainsets, but I think the E7/W7 series is my favorite.

E7 is very nice. It's my second most favorite. E6 is my most favorite. :)

@@JPRailcom E7 reminds me of the GCT gauge changing train that was used on trials in Kyushu recently.

E7/W7 series is definitely one of my favorite Shinkansen trainsets behind the E5/H5 and E6.

I love the sound effects when you use Google Earth, although I think the wind sound at the very beginning is a bit too loud... I would reduce it 30-50%? Including sound effects like that makes it feel so much more real though! Really clever!

Google Earth is brilliant for this kind of thing. I've explored practically the entire Kyushu rail network using it! Hope you do this with the Kyushu shinkansen soon, Takeshi san! Thanks for another great video!

I'm making the construction section between Takeo Onsen and Nagasaki on the Nagasaki Shinkansen now. It will be in a few days.

I saw that Fukui Station will only have one platform and two tracks, obviously an island platform arrangement, but I have never seen this anywhere else on the shinkansen network as they all seem to be two side platforms with two tracks running in between. Are there any other shinkansen stations with just one island platform and two tracks? I have recently made huge changes to my model railway layout which meant only being able to accommodate a single island platform overhead station for my shinkansen trains unless i do some major customising to try and make it two side platforms as, rather oddly, none of the model railway companies make a station with this common arrangement!

@@B-A-L Actually there is another station that has a island platform and two tracks arrangement on the Shinkansen network. Mishima Station in Shizuoka Prefecture on the Tokaido Shinkansen.

Lesson to be learned: don't sell your land of freight yard to buildings if there's shinkansen plan. Fukui station got only one island platform and two tracks. I guess Saga station would be similar too.

When you mentioned Kaga Onsen station, the story behind that area can make an interesting video already. (But I guess making "Mei train series" is not what you aim at lol)

The USA has much to learn from Japanese rail networks. I wish we had even a tiny fraction of this network.

NIMBY culture and car culture, and most annoyingly, the mindset of "public transports are for poors" "im not gonna embarass myself by taking PT" mentalities . however they feel comfortable being stuck for 2-3 hours on interstate 710 when driving from pasadena to long beach....

Sabae city will have the Shinkansen station but the location is not same as the current Sabae station. It's like Kobe and Shin-Kobe.
