I was an 80's kid. GI Joes were my favorite! Back then I modeled on stage at the mall a couple times and won. Winners received toy certificates. I remember buying He- Man. That smell of rubber, meaning brand new. Anytime I smell that same rubber smell it immediately brings me back to the 80's. You have an awesome collection!

Wow, your whole story about being a Toysrus kid of the 1980's and your thoughts about the 1980's and what has happened to toys and attitudes are almost identical to mine. My dream has been to someday recreate Toysrus from the 1980's for myself. I have collected a closet full of sealed Gi Joes, WWF Hasbro and others from the old days but I haven't put a room together yet, but someday I will. You are an inspiration. You are awesome dude.

Fantastic video of the ultimate toy room! I myself grew up in the 80's, born in 1972 and I remember the toy stores being stocked so well back in the day. as an '80s child growing up in England, this was my bread & butter!! Without doubt my fav toyline was M.A.S.K., but like you my parents couldn't (or wouldn't!) afford to feed the collection, so I too dreamed of what it would be like to own them (aside from the ones I got bought at birthdays/Christmas) and cherish them without ever doing so....I lived in a part of Greater Manchester called Middleton. There was a huge Arndale centre in town and at the back of it was a kinda supermarket mum used to shop in and on one specific aisle was just rows and rows of toys where I used to lose myself! There was also another store (John Menzies?) that used to have toys right at the back....ahhhh, the memories! Now, at 45 I can really appreciate your collection and what you've done, how you've recaptured the magic of your childhood and the fact your wife has helped and supported it is just as awesome! Fantastic, just way too cool; thank you for sharing and re-igniting blissful childhood memories :)

I just discovered your channel and I absolutely love it! I was born in 1977, so the 80's was my playground and I remember all of the lines that you talk about on your channel! I loved Star Wars, GI Joe, Wheeled Warriors, Transformers, MASK, He-Man, MUSCLE, Battle Beasts, Thundercats and TMNT, as well as a few others, but those mentioned are my absolute favorites! I still have a few of my toys as well, but like many others, many were given away after I passed them on to my little brothers. Thank you for your work and for collecting so that I can relive this part of my life that I hold so dear!

Your intro was superb! You're right, just getting to a toy store to simply look was amazing. I grew up in a small Minnesota town. We had NO toy stores. Seeing toys in a store took a trip to the Twin Cities that was rarely made. In the early 70s and on into the 80s, department store Christmas catalogs were the rage. A very enjoyable video!
@brushpixcomics95206 жыл бұрын
This is actually the first video I saw from your channel. It popped up on my feed after watching a few Toys 'R' Us demise related videos. Your museum room set up is more Toys 'R' Us than Toys 'R' Us Has been in the past 2 decades. The lighting and the set up all perfectly recaptures the feeling of an 80s Toys 'R' Us. There is just a warm and fuzzy feeling when watching all these virtual tours. Excellent Work!
@MichaelMercy6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! So glad to hear that. I love that I'm able to share it with fellow 'Toys R Us kids' who grew up in the same era as me. There are some younger people who don't get it and some who even go so far as to make personal attacks, and I just feel sorry for them. Empty inside and dying for attention. Not willing to do anything positive to get it. With the mass sadness of TRU closing down, I'm glad I can share this little piece of it frozen in time with those who saw it first hand. :D

Hey, I’m here because of Rebel Force Radio. Mind blowing stuff! I grew up in Yugoslavia and we had to go to Italy or Austria to get toys like LEGOs, which were the only expensive toys my parents decided to buy for me, because we didn’t have money to spare and after seeing how creative I got with LEGOs, they saw the value in them. Just looking at LEGO catalogs gave me hours of pleasure and daydreaming. 80s really was a special decade.

I work at a Toys R Us here in Canada and while I agree I don’t necessarily feel that magic in the store any more either. I can happily say the kids still do. That’s the best part of my job, seeing the little kids sprint ahead of their parents to get to the door and run to the section they know their favourite toys are. And seeing the joy as they stare in amazement at their hero’s.

They sure don't make box art like they used to. It was like going to an art gallery in the 80's with the beautiful personalized card and box art each GI Joe and Transformer got.
Hey I came across these lovely videos the other night and it brought back memories, you see my life can be stressful at times working dead end jobs, and trying to raise a family and sometimes I yearn for my childhood.On my quiet times when the kids aren't around me and my wife always watch old 80s commercials and we try sometimes catching an 80s movie or T.V. show here or there, some people don't bother looking back at there childhood but the 80s was a decade of such great things that I can't let it go, I love the toys the movies the shows everything was awesome.I just Remember opening up my MANTECH toys during Christmas time and being so excited, alot of people don't even remember Captain Power when I saw that my Nostalgia feels went nuts.Anyway just wanted to say Thanks for showing your collection, it looks awesome.And if you ever would like to talk 80s stuff I have so many things I remember.Thanks

You are a true collector. Not afraid to express your passion. Represent the 80s man, the golden age of cartoons and toys. Dusting your collection must take forever!

Thanks! It's a low dust room. Surprised at how many comments I get about dust actually. Enjoy the art and don't worry about the maintenance! :D

Every birthday and holiday I can guarantee at least 1 or more figures that I e had my eye on I miss the days of hunting at toys r us. I also grew up in the 80s. These department stores just dont have the magic of toys r us Once again, beautiful collection, enjoy!
