By day he has a desk job as an IT worker, but by night he’s a virtual vigilante, hunting down cyber criminals. In response to endless spam emails and robocalls, Jim Browning decided enough was enough and it was time to fight back. Jim joins us in the studio to tell us why he decided to take on cyber scammers and the hilarious ways he gets revenge on scam callers, as well as sharing some top tips on preventing ourselves from falling victim to these scams.

Government agencies don't have jurisdiction in these countries, they can't do anything meaningful legally and they have bigger fish to fry than a scam ring ... like actual terrorism, human trafficking and homicides

Been watching Jim for years and it's so good to see he's finally made it on a British show that you might find a lot of older people watch, this is the best way to help vulnerable people be more aware. Now if he makes it one news channels, it's almost checkmate!

I don't believe I wasn't aware of this interview. True heart of gold and one of the best of us, who clearly doesn't wear a cape but instead Cark Kent glasses =P. Jim is a real life hero for going above and beyond the moto of helping others. He's in the ranks of Military/Police/Fire/Medical personal who serve. Thank you Jim for just being you! Remember don't be a scammer, instead be like Jim no mater what job you do in this world and the world would be a better place.

Ive been watching Jim for years, and other people like him who speak to scammers. whether it's just wasting their time or identifying them specifically, are some of the hardest workers. Especially when there's no one else doing anything, they're truly doing a service, even if they can't save everyone. You'll see people who are elderly in their comments who are grateful that these videos showed up, it helps a lot

Wow, never thought I'd see (hear) Jim Browning on national TV! The guy is an absolute legend! I'd highly recommend his KZfaq channel, _ESPECIALLY_ to any older people who aren't all that tech savvy and might be more susceptible to these kinds of scams! He provides such an invaluable service and provides a source of knowledge about these scammers. Watching him string along and expose scammers is incredibly satisfying and something you could watch for hours!

I played along with a scam call once and I was asked to log onto my computer etc. The scammer asked if I was logged in and I said yes, he then gave me a sequence of keys to press so he could gain access to my ‘PC” one of which was the Windows Key. I played along by telling him I could not find the Windows Key and he told me it was situated to the bottom left of my Keyboard. I proceeded to shuffle around a bit while acting confused and again told him I could not find it. This too and frowning went on for about 10 mins and eventually he asked if I could confirm my computer brand to which I replied “I’m on my iPad” Click, End of Call 😂😂😂😂😂

This is brilliant! I do too play along at times, sometimes I put on a child's voice and inform them my parents aren't home - they immediately put down the phone. Other times I pretend I cannot speak English and have a right op laugh annoying them.

Another company that avoids calling people is Microsoft, in fact, they never call, and they have stated numerous times anyone who calls you purporting to be from them is likely a scammer/fraudster posing as them. If you do need to contact them, they would expect you to call them or contact them another way legitimately. This rule applies to most of the large tech firms, they will NEVER call you ever. They have the means and resources to allow you to contact them, and usually, you do not even have to pay for it.

One thing Jim doesn’t mention is when he says ‘connected to his computer’ he’s referring to a virtual machine on his computer so he can limit the amount of access to his actual computer

I'm a big fan of Jim and all he does, wouldn't it be better to make people aware of scams by putting short information clips on at the advert breaks on tv and I don't mean just the odd one but really hit home with them and do it a lot.
