That's how I understood it, it's the lens that creates the actual light spot i.e. relative straight beam. This works because the shape (and maybe material) of the lens is specifically made for the wavelenght.

Great explanation! I would love to see more videos about this stuff. What kind of doping is required and is the middle layer actually transparent or just so thin (e.g. 1.5 times the wavelength) that is able to radiate the photons even if it's not transparent? Also, is it possible to create high power lasers with doped silicon only, even in theory?

Green lasers often consist of an infrared laser and a crystal in front of it that glows green. Therefore, they then emit IR and green light.

The only advantage of this is having a very precise wavelength (since this system uses resonance), but if you need it to be very compact, you have, for example, the NUGM06, a green diode laser with a 2w output, but it needs almost 15w of energy

I thought it was impossible to directly get a shorter wavelength radiation out of a longer wavelength radiation. Thanks for telling me that bro😃

More expensive ones don't as they have an IR filter. But if you want a compact, more rugged design there are 520nm green lasers that are a diode and lens just like the hugely common red pointers. But 520nm are expensive if you want high powers over about 1W

Thank you sir, this clarifies a laser diode a lot. Let me ask for two more questions? Why light is not escaping from "sides" of the gain media? Also, why there is directional dispersion? Is it due to short length of the Fabry-Perot resonator?

depends on the wavelength. if it is low wavelength, it would probably just pass through you. if it is low power visible wavelength it would just cast light onto you. if high power, it might feel warm or burn you. if is short wavelength and high enough power, it might give you a higher risk of cancer and/or burn you.
