ViscoSense® is an innovative viscometer and viscosity control system with no moving parts. Introduced by VAF Instruments in 2007 as replacement of VAF's earlier model Viscotherm®, this rubust and maintenance free equipment is specially designed for fuel oils. Due to its proven precision and reliability it is the most used viscosity control system for diesel engines onboard of vessels and in oil-fired power plants. It is used in booster units and for inline measurement and control of viscosity of diverse process liquids.
The patented operating principle of ViscoSense is based on rotational vibration of a pendulum in liquid. The damping of this electrically controlled vibration is directly related to the viscosity of the liquid. Through this ViscoSense achieves the most accurate real time viscosity measurement possible.
