The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has directed all BOT/OMT/ANNUITY Operators to install Indigenous Weight Enforcement Systems and equipment's at Toll Plaza's to curb the practice of overloading and take stringent measures to curb overloading. These steps have been taken in light of the overloading scenarios observed across the National Highways since overloading badly damages the precious road infrastructure, incurring huge expenses on the operator to maintain the roads and is one of the major causes for increasing number of road accidents.
