There's only one real vision. Its called the Great Commission. Stick to that.

That's actually the MISSION of all churches, but the VISION is how each church with it's unique resources accomplish that mission.

@@caffeineman72 Plz help me, what is the difference between Vision and Mission.
@caffeineman722 жыл бұрын
@@fellybossymachu9212 I am no expert, and the challenge is the terms are often used to mean the same thing, and it get's confusing. With that said - mission is usually a static statement describing why you're organization exists. Vision - takes that mission and puts action behind it, ad the vision could change every couple years as you achieve, expand, and discover new ways pf carrying out the mission. With the Church - mission = make disciples. Vision = Hope Church aims to empower families to disciple their kids by providing opportunities for families to serve, grow, and share. Yes, it'sa bit of linguistics splitting of hairs, but they are different.

My approach to so called, "vision casting"? Jesus builds His church and I follow Him. What am I to do? The next right thing. Preach the gospel... One plants and another waters but, God gives the increase. Why not just preach, teach and study the bible? Why try to imagine what God wants "our" church to look like? If it's His church, He will build it and it will be what He wants it to be, not what you want. It's a fad that leads to large churches filled with false converts, to want to do the next flashy thing to pack people into the church building. Doing surveys to see how people want church done... Pragmatism. What seems to work does not mean it is the biblical and right way to do it... I mean, c'mon, guys. "Vision casting"? Very similar to the word of faith and new apostolic garbage.... Stick to the biblical teachings!

It's from the 2007 Willow Creek Leadership Summit. They have all the talks available if you contact them directly.

Aside from Hybel's personal failings, it's clear to me that he should have gone with his first interest, which was business. He should have become a biz school prof focusing on leadership, or the founder of a Christian business like Chik-Fil-A, or a nonprofit like Compassion Int'l. He should never have been the founder and pastor of a church, because he ran Willow like a business/organization, not like an organism, part of the living Body of Christ. He built a huge organization which would have been a great success if it were a business or nonprofit, using pragmatic and customer-focused ideas to attract 1000s of "customers", but Willow is really not a biblical church full of 1000s of true believers, and Hybels is not a pastor, he's a leadership guru/organizational development guy, his speech is pure biz/leadership jargon, rather than the words and doctrines of Jesus and the Bible. It's a shame, because the business world is a perfectly good life calling for Christians with an interest in leadership and organizational stuff, but the church is not a calling for business leaders who try to act as pastors and teachers. The whole "vision casting" and "mission statement" nonsense comes from the business/nonprofit world, not from the New Testament definition of the church and the Great Commission, as the other commenters have rightly noted.

For some reason this does not sound right. It sounds like, discard what God tells you and seek a democratic approach.

Or maybe it's an approach that trusts the Holy Spirit to speak through the whole body of the church?

When Moses went to Sinai though he them what to do, it wasn’t until his father-in-law Jethro told him he needed help. And begin to allow his advice to take the message of Sinai to fruition.
