There are mornings when we wake up, our eyes feel like they have lead weights holding them down, our limbs seem to be magnetically attracted to the bed as it takes incredible effort just to detach ourselves from its safe and warm comfort. Only getting up after you realize that an even worse fate awaits you if you don’t. Even the stimulating effects of caffeine aren’t able to clear the dizzying fog that lingers in the mind as we aimlessly wander through the day. And this is just the beginning as we drudge through the rest of that endless day, waiting to get back to the unconsciousness of sleep again, just so we can do it all over again the next day.
We have all been there, and some of us are still there right now. Is this just what life is? Is this normal? Is it depression? When life gets like this, it is because something is missing. Something is missing from our life that is so simple, yet when we have it, it transforms us from a pessimistic, wandering zombie, to a happy, energetic, excited, motivated, force of a human being.
That one simple thing is a Vision. A vision of a better life. A vision of where we want to go and where we want to be in our lives. Aiming for something in our lives that is worthwhile. Something that is meaningful. When we create a vision of a beautiful, wonderful life ahead of us, now matter how bad our days get, and they will get pretty bad sometimes, we will always have that vision, and it will bring us hope, the hope that will pull us out of the darkness and guide us to that better life. That is the definition of having a meaningful life, having meaning in your life. The famous quote by Friedrich Nietzsche states this perfectly. Those who have a WHY to live for can bear any how.
When we have a vision, we no longer focus on the inevitable pain and suffering of life, but instead our vision makes us aware of the obstacles in our way, and the tools that will provide us with a pathway forward. When we can finally see the pathway to our destination, there is no longer a need for anxiety. But, if we are aimless, without a vision for a better future, we will become hopeless, anxious, and fragmented. When we can finally point up high in the sky and aim for something more than what our current life has to offer, all that anxiety naturally fades away and turns into something different. It turns to hope. It is hope that will spring you out of bed every morning, excited for the day ahead, because now, everything you do in that day has meaning. Everything you do will bring you one step closer to living your dream life.
As I look back on my own life, when I had nothing to look forward to other than the short term, hedonistic pleasures of life, I would become terribly depressed, not yet understanding why. But when I finally started believing that my life could be something more, when I created a wonderful vision of my future to aim for, it gave me hope. I created visions that would be life changing if I achieved them. The excitement exploded from me as I visualized already having it in my life. It motivates me every single day. I wake up every morning excited, knowing that I can do something to get me that much closer to my dreams. That hope pushes me through very difficult times, and continues to fill my life with energy, motivation, and excitement for the wonderful possibilities of the future to come.
When you create a vision in your life, something that is of a worthy aim, and you move toward that dream every single day, even by the tiniest margin, YOU will be the happiest, most motivated, most energetic, most fulfilled person you know.
In this meditation, I will help you create that vision and imbed it deep into the subconscious mind, so that as you look out into the future, as you continue to have that wonderful vision of your life, as you continue to dream big and aim high, your subconscious mind will naturally and effortlessly guide your daily actions towards that dream. Then one day, you will wake up and notice that you are living your dream life. I will leave you with one more quote, from Jim Ryun, “Motivation is what gets you started, Habit is what keeps you going.” I want you to challenge yourself to listen to this meditation for 30 nights, create that habit as you turn those visions, those dreams, into a reality.
