fun fact :) : the second hack is what pirates use the eye patch for, they cover one eye when they're in the sun so that they can see with it when they go inside the ship

that's old army training. when you see a flare dropping from an aircraft, you watch it fall with one eye while the other is closed, after its gone you switch eyes to then follow using the prepared night eyes while the other is spotting from the bright flash

I wear glasses, and I was really surprised when it worked. It didnt allow for a lot of sight, but it was focused and better than my normal without-glasses-vision.

Yeah never wish bad vision on yourself, it sucks. With glasses, no peripheral vision (if your eyes are as bad as mine). With contacts, sometimes they hurt getting out of your eye and make your eyes dry and there's the risk of infection and they're ridiculously expensive.

I already use the closed eye trick since years. It comes from the pirates, they blocked one eye, not because they were blind, but so when they go under the deck, they could see in the dark.

I do it all the time out of habit, I never even thought to use it in the way the video described though. I just thought I did it because I was able to see better that way or something. What about you?

works better if you're at your computer checking email/facebook before heading for bed, just close one eye for a few minutes, check mail, use the bathroom(don't trip) shut the lights off and open your eye, clear night vision up to the bedroom. (if you didn't want to turn on the lights)

I always wind up using my phone in bed. I watch yt when I can't sleep. I have always done the one eye open, one eye closed trick. I can't see correctly if I don't. I do tend to pick up my phone and turn the flashlight on for a sec, do the one eye trick and walk to the bathroom in the dark. hahaha. I never really thought about it. I just always did it. I never really thought about the reasons why it helps, I am just thrilled it does. I hate having to turn on bright overhead lights at in the middle of the night.

The glasses one is something I discovered as a child when blurring my own vision (not sure if everyone with perfect vision can do that, but I can) and bring finger glasses to my eyes (like how they did in the video). despite the blurred vision, it always came out clear

if your near sighted, look at something far away and use the hand method, if your far sighted, look at something close up and try it. (Near sighted: you can see thing close but not far. Far sighted: you can see thing far but not close)

I found out the first hack by myself. Its really helpful tho when u forget to bring ur glasses in school, just make a tiny circle in ur hands and ur good to go! I do that.

I used to do the hand thing when I was little and hadnt had glasses yet because my vision was just starting to go bad, everyone thought I was crazy. SO glad Im not the only one!!!

The first "trick" is actually something we use in ophthalmology called pin hole. The light is literally pin holed directly onto the retina (or macula for central vision), thus making everything seem clearer. If you were reading at the 20/60 line, it could "improve" your vision to 20/30 or better.

That’s why pirates have an eye patch, so when they have to fight at night they just move the patch to the other eye and they can see super clear while fighting. Pretty neat

THAT PHANTOM HAND. I was in the verge of sleeping when i have that. I have my eyes closed and trying to sleep, i feel relaxed and everything, then i move my hand, i was so shocked to actually see my hand moving (my eyes were closed, eyelid if u want to be specific). I thought i developed a six sense or something, lol. I keep moving my hand back and forth for quite sometimes b4 fall to sleep.

Laser eye surgery I got that like a month ago it makes your vision better for most of the time 10 ish years then slowly gets worse and you have to get it done again. It does not hurt but your eyes will be light sensitive for 8 hours

The last hack ' phantom hand' can be applied to objects as well. You can tune in in pitch black and see an outline of white around the objects. You can see other things as well.

The first one b I found out on accident a while ago, I woke up and saw I could see perfectly through the area where my two eyes point of view mix together, it's pretty useful.

the one with the blindfold happens because our eyelids are very thin, and a bit of light can still go through them when you have your eyes shut, which means when your hand/arm goes in front of your eyes, it blocks some of the light, making it look darker in that spot so its basically your hands shadow

I am really surprised no one said anything about this lately... but when they have the blindfolds on it looks like someone cut a portion of their face off. With the black background and the blindfold being the same black looked so crazy.

I've been using the pinhole camera trick for years. Taught to me by an old guy in the supermarket when he saw me squinting to read a label. Now I'm old and I've been passing it on.

I've always closed an eye in the dark when trying to read something on my phone. Never knew why, but I guess its because it helps see better.

YES! Amazing. The first one worked for me, a good small distance away from the computer screen. Definitely not the same as squinting, so much clearer, granted its pretty limited.

The close one eye thing is sooooo old, pirates back in ye olden days of yore used to wear a patch over one eye so that they could go down into the galley and see clearly by lifting the patch that was covering one eye then when going back upstairs into the bright daylight covering the eye again with the patch - means they could see at all times during the day and not be blinded that way, such an genius idea and very very old! lol

I'm not sure there's any "phantom hand." It's just that light still enters through your eye lids, so when you bring your hand in front of your face for a second, everything becomes briefly darker. Think of when the sun is in front of you and you close your eyes, but you still see orange or red.

Try having two people in a completely dark room with the light off. Then, flip it on VERY briefly. Do not blink or move. After a second or two, you should be able to see the other person frozen in place for several seconds - even if they move or walk away.

The glasses hack worked for me too!!! And the phantom hand I have also; but more odd than that is that I can "see" my entire room even though it's not moving and go around and get things when I have my eye cover that I sleep with on!!! Does anyone else have that too???

Having glasses sucks, if someone picks on you they could take them off, or in the rain they get all wet and you see dots everywhere then its hard to clean and someone could touch your glasses then there will be a giant stain. If you want to know what I mean by the rain just hop in your car when it rains, the put your eye on the window!

my brother has this pair of spectacles, the 'lens' are solid gray plastic with a web of dot holes. Really does work.

Same as the first trick is when you place your finger next to your, for example, right eye on the right en pull the skin to the right. If you succeed finding the right way to do it, your vision will get clearer.
