The best part about this scene is that Vision didn’t even know you had to be worthy to lift the hammer, he just gave it to Thor as genuinely as you would hand someone a pencil

I love how Thor said to Tony, “Well done.” In the end, Tony really did win the Mjolnir-lifting competition. He created a robot that could do it for him.

"There may be no way for you to trust me" And then he lifts Mjolnir proving that he's pure of heart

Can we just acknowledge how funny Thor’s reaction to this whole scene was, because I found it excellent. His reaction to Tony was also brilliant!

Now this is excellent writing. Show, don't tell. Fantastic stuff from the writing team. The moment he lifted Mjolnir, we knew he was trustworthy and correct.

tony and banner were like: *the plan wasn't simple but the execution was perfect*

Brilliant writing. Whedon had about two minutes to introduce a new character, show both the Avengers and the audience who he truly is, move the team from in-fighting to uniting and transition organically into the last act. And he did all that by setting this up with the Hammer Challenge scene that had already been used to 1) humanize the characters and show that the team was full on course to becoming friends; 2) provide a quiet, fun, peaceful intermission before a violent action sequence to offset it; 3) drop a hint that Cap is worthy; 4) show that Bruce had been healing amazingly from his trauma, comfortable enough to _joke_ about hulking out; 5) hint at Natasha's crisis of self-worth; 6) give the marketing team a cool engaging sequence for teasers. It would have been a marvelous scene even without the Vision part, but then Vision lifted the hammer and it just blew me away.

I like how Vision manipulated all of them by lifting the hammer, knowing they would immediately accept him. He has the cumulative knowledge of Stark, Jarvis and Banner so he knows the lore of Thor's hammer. He didn't "know" he was worthy, he calculated and came up with a percentage and probability. He is a super computer after all.

To this day I still don't understand why this is hated on the internet. I saw this movie with my best friends 3x and loved it each time. This is a 9/10 super hero flick for me.

I just realized that Thor said “well done” to Tony because he created a ‘worthy’ person, a person who will follow the right path. Man, I love these small instances

I love that bit at 0:41 where Thor looks from the hammer to Vision to the hammer like "Am I really seeing this?" And Tony's just like "Whoa."

Just love how Vision casually lifts Thor’s hammer like how you would give someone a phone when someone is calling.

Tony maybe isn't worthy himself, but he created someone who is.

I think this is the only Avengers film where it's someone other than Cap giving an inspiring speech to get the team going.

The fact that he did it so casually made it even better

I love how vision says "so I don't think there is any way you can trust me." and then he picks up Thor's hammer when Thor just said if you can lift the hammer your worthy.

Drax really made this scene. He's so good at standing perfectly still that you don't notice him the whole time.

I remember the entire theater room going dead silent - in shock and wonder - when the Vision held Mjolnir. By the time Thor collected himself and walks off, the theater room slowly came back to life with hushed whispers and soft chuckling. The entire room had that personality to it that felt like, "Okay... well, that just happened. Ha!"

The thing that gets me every time with this scene is Hawkeye looks like he wants to say something but is literally left speechless by what he witnessed.

Jonathan did a great job. He let Vision lift him so everyone trust Vision.

That look in the eye and pat on the shoulder was also a nice subtle touch. A "we were both wrong and we both fixed it" nod without overstating it.

I love Thor giving Tony props here. One of my favorite MCU moments.

Vision is such an awesome character. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see too much more from him, but I guess it is hard to keep writing a character who is ALWAYS “morally correct/good” in a movie series.

Apparently Paul Bettany lifting up and handing the hammer to Thor was improvised. Really good touch! I’m glad they left it it.

Vision is by far the best part of the current MCU. Love seeing theatre actors schooling people on how it's done.

That little shoulder tap on Tony by Thor was a great gesture of appreciation 👍👍

the setup and then the instant verification of Vision's desire to do the right thing brings tears to my eyes everytime I see this. He words backed up by the hammer's ability is one of the best moves in MCU. Also in this movie is Clint's speech to Wanda which is the best in all the movies

I think Tony and Steve were on the right path with that "elevator's not worthy" talk. We see Vision handling the hammer twice but never using lightning powers, but when Steve uses it in Endgame, he _does_ have lightning powers. And Odin's enchantment says if you're worthy and holding the hammer, you get lightning powers. So Vision could lift the hammer, not by virtue of being worthy, but by bypassing the worthiness test

Paul Bettany is such a good actor. In any other movie franchise, this character would have looked ridiculous, but he pulls it off so well.

Funniest part is the fact that Vision didn’t even think about the whole “worthy” thing and just picked it up casually 😂😂

This never fails to make me giggle. Their face expressions are priceless.

It’s the heart (love), soul and power which decides if someone is worthy for the hammer. And vision has proved many times that he is humble, loving, moving to the right path and also being dangerous (power) at the same time. Only being good will not be enough. You also need to have the power which he clearly has.

My two favorite reactions: Thor just looking at Mjolnir in his hand like "did that just happen?" And Clint like "i want to say something... but i dont know what."

That camera work was perfect for that moment. You can hear him grab the hammer about 2 second before he brings it on screen so it just sounds background noise. Its so subtle but so perfect.

Actually the reason why vision able to grab Thor Mjolnir because vision was machine and actually u can actually just grab Thor Mjolnir by moving the item under it. So because vision is Jarvis and made of vibranium then probably he can grab those Mjolnir. Or another theory because Jarvis is known as good robots so probably the universe make Jarvis able to grab Thor hammer because Jarvis does not have any bad thing.

Tony Stark literally makes heroes or villains. There is no in-between with him. Here Thor is congratulating Tony on making vision, but earlier in the movie Thor was holding Tony by the throat for making Ultron. Tony motivated (in one form or another) Spiderman, Vulture, Mysterio, Whiplash, War Machine, Killian, even Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch who were on both sides of the fence.

It's odd how all the best tricks of the Avengers never worked on Thanos. Especially the unique unexplored qualities of Vision. And above all we lost so many to him all alone, while his army almost had no impact on the last fight. 😳
