This documentary traces the story of John Wesley the 18th century evangelist and social reformer who launched the worldwide Methodist movement. Using excerpts from the 2010 dramatic film Wesley by John Jackman plus interviews with experts and on-location footage shot in Wesley’s England, this program takes you inside the world of this influential Christian leader.
Few people have influenced the course of the church like John Wesley. Like his reforming predecessor, Martin Luther, Wesley’s early life was marked by a moralism driven by fear of God’s judgment. And it was Luther’s writing that helped Wesley to understand the scriptural message of grace through faith. Set free from his bondage to self-righteousness Wesley set out to awaken a church that had once again traded the truth for lies and mission for self-preservation. This documentary uses excerpts from the award-winning 2010 dramatic film, Wesley along with expert commentary and footage shot in Wesley’s England. It will take you inside the world of John Wesley and trace how this influential Christian leader changed the course of the church and the world.

Thanks for the sharing of John Wesley's ministry. Truly interesting and inspiring. Soo Appropriate and touching, to learn that he is such a Zealous, devout Christian. Not forgetting his compassion and charitable works for the poor. May We desired to do the same so as to bring the Grace of Salvation to the lost and Hurting world. And also to give some welfare assistance to the poor and orphans. PS : Awesome Example of a Real Christian : John Wesley, not forgetting his mother, Susanna and brother, Charles.

@@woolenslippers4124 It has, and I made the painful decision to leave the UMC this spring. I didn't really change much but the increasing wokeism made me feel more and more alien and unwelcome. Oh! Thank G-d for .... John Wesley was ordained, eventually went to preach in America. Shortly after, when he returned to England, he struggled within his soul. He didn't feel relationship with God. Only out of disciplined life, he kept up good works. It was within this struggling, he met a true believer in Christ..Peter Boyier(no idea of spelling last name, sorry) Peter became close friend to John, sharing true salvation through Christ..when John Wesley finally came to understand salvation is by belief, faith alone, in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Once John Wesley came to believe in Christ alone for salvation, that is what he then started preaching in the churches...only need to Believe! He also preached assurance in salvation...that one can never lose it! He no longer preached the good works, giving money to the church, etc...as needed for eternity with the Lord. The preachers who let John preach in their churches did not agree with this..easy salvation... That is why the pulpits became closed to him.

Hi friends , what seems dumb way is Gods ways , to God all things can be solved , Yes , what is impossible with men, it seems possible to God it is easy . We all can never assume what is in the heart of God, Even Paul a man against Christ Jesus was changed by the power of God , on the road to Damascus. "The Gospel . . . is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith” (Romans 1:16-17).

No wonder John Wesley was one of the angels sent in this end times according to Revelation 2. But the Seventh angel is come too. William Branham came to continue where John Wesley left. So please search for this man and the message preached by him by our Lord Jesus Christ. Don't be left in Methodistism. Move over to the next age opened by the Lord by William Branham. God bless you.

You may have to ask why Peter preached this: Acts 2:34-36 Jesus made BOTH Lord and Christ 34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ

As with John Wesley & his followers, so too was the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. & his followers also violently persecuted for their unique groundbreaking Christian beliefs. . . Joseph Smith organized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1830. . . 197 years later the worldwide membership exceeds 16 million. . . In 1791, Wesley died peacefully in bed, surrounded by family and friends, while, in 1844, the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. was shot & murdered in cold blood by a large mob of evil men who painted their faces in order to conceal their identities. . . Joseph's brother Hyrum was also shot & murdered. . . It's very sad that here in America, where freedom of religion is supposed to be one of our rights under the US Comstiution, that such a horific event happened & that NO charges or trial was ever brought against any of the evil murderous men. . .

Today"s Methodist Church is different from John Wesley's one. In South Africa they didn't preach Salvation and that brings fights in families, because some are born again Christians. They do rituals that are not Godly and when some family members refuse to do those rituals, there's a conflict.

Interesting documentary. I am bearly learning what Methodists are. I like the open air sermons and the concern for the poor. However I do prefer salvation by works, which is the opposite of the Methodist idea of salvation by grace. However the salvation of grace is used well in the context. It gives a break to the poor people who struggle. Personally I think the difficulty of living in poverty should already be payment for sin. This is a radical idea of mine. I like to think that all sins one commits should be subtracted by the hardships of life. The biggest factor in hardship is economic class. This creates a kind of net sin. That determins how much sin to work off in the afterlife before going to Heavin. The place of working off sin would be Purgatory. There are two main things to help get a lower amount of net sin, which helps one move to a Heavin quicker. The first factor is being a good person and so committing less sin. The second factor is living a difficult life. The difficulty can involve things like labor, punishment and imprisonment. It especially involves being discriminated by society in some way. The biggest is living in poverty. So there is an idea that minorities get into Heaven faster, while still being accountable for thier actions. This fast access makes up for the difficulty of life. That may be an uplifting thing to preach to the poor. It would help them feel better. It would be good to know that thier hard work and turmoil will pay off. This system is a lot harsher on majority, especially rulers. They are going to have more sin to work off in the afterlife, because it wasn't paid for by as much hardship. I also make tyranny and discrimination two of my seven major sins. The other sins are theft, shunning, abuse, deciet and violence. So if the majority was mistreating the minority, that is more sin to work off in the afterlife. I like to imagine the people getting an easier time getting to reward in afterlife. It is hope. I would like to add this as an incentive to do the good deeds of charity and community service. I like how Jesus advocated for charity and stood up fir the poor. If the Methodist could be like that, that would be lovely.

I was raised Methodist in Texas. In fact I was baptized and attended the largest Methodist church on the planet...a huge Gothic place on the grounds of Southern Methodist University called Highland Park Methodist. That part of my family were well off and Bible believers who went to church a lot. My Mother's parents were Oklahoma pioneers and very devout Methodists. They are more like the spirit of early Methodism...hymns at home, Sunday School, small wooden churches. They were methodical and debt free and had the best sense of humor ever. Granddaddy had a grocery store in West Texas and passed food out to poor black and Indian families from the back door (save embarrassment). Grandmother was a wonderful seamstress and made clothes for those sorts of people nearby, who couldn't even afford fabric. Their idea of Justification by Faith was having the complete complacency of trust and doing your duty....with a 6th grade education he had several small businesses and became a school board president and a mayor of a tiny town. I think John and Charles would be proud of them! I became a Catholic at 26 inspired (some would say overinspired) by St. Francis. I love being eclectic with Christian and sometimes Jewish theology...finding the very identical points in all expressed in cultural or linguistic styles. For instance, John Wesley and St. Alphonsus Liguori, were almost contemporaries and very, very similar pastors. St. Liguori had many gifts and was very warm and down to earth (very Naples!)....he saw hell and said the #1 Gate was hatred of other people. I'm Matthew's mother, Deanna...his account()

Sylvia .... Believing on Jesus' death, burial and resurrection is all one needs for entrance into heaven. = salvation. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 It is a free gift! No person can add anything, no good works, to gain heaven. Jesus did it all. "It is finished." If our good works could save us, why would Lord Jesus have to die? After we believe on Jesus, we are sons of God. Not even our bad works, or sins, can keep us out of heaven. Jesus died for our past, present and future sins. (There are consequences for our disobedience, loss of rewards, at the Judgement Seat of Christ.) The decision for Christ must be done while we're still alive. Once our bodies die, our eyes open and will see either Jesus' face, or flames of hell. Im sorry, but there isn't any purgatory. That is not a Biblical teaching. It is a teaching of man. The YT channel name, Bible Issues, covers this and so many other unscriptural teachings. Believing n Jesus is the only way to heaven. Rejecting Jesus' is the only way to Hell.
