It sounds like overlaying a 3-pot onto a 2-pot engine, which considering the firing intervals would be more appropriate. Definitely didn’t have that iconic harmony of a 144 or a 72 deg firing interval, rather this one had somewhat of a brutal punch that gets harsher the higher the rev. Also, this level of backyard engineering definitely had Allen Millyard vibes. His projects alone definitely worth several videos to discuss.
@identiticrisis
@identiticrisis Ай бұрын
The overall impression would be a lot like a 180 degree parallel twin, because of the 3:1 ratio of the interval groupings (90+90 vs. 180+180+180; equivalent to 180-540)

I'm think many would people agree with this, but I find the Hayabusa engine most interesting in anything but a bike. Having such a high-revving and rowdy engine in a small car is such a cool phenomenon. It's a completely different sensation, perhaps more exciting (compared to the stock engine); an engine that is extremely performance oriented, outstandingly energetic, and still has power that is proportional to the car it's swapped into. It would prove to make an outstanding driver's car.

I like he did it this way. First, much easier to manufacture. Second, interesting sound, not as common as an inline-4, but definitely got some tones of it with the 5th cylinder making it sound bit angrier. That's also the third reason - it is different, everybody knows 144° inline-fives, this is original. Cool project
