Welcome to Bellingham, Washington! Whether you're planning to spend a weekend in Bellingham, take a day trip from a nearby city, or even consider moving to this amazing city, this video will show you some of the most popular neighborhoods and top attractions. We'll also take you on a tour of some of the many breweries that Bellingham is known for, including our personal favorite. As lifelong residents of Bellingham and full-time world travelers, we can fully appreciate the true beauty that Bellingham has to offer. It's a hidden gem of the Pacific Northwest region and a must-visit destination while in Washington State.
Located just 90 miles north of Seattle and 50 miles south of Vancouver, BC, Bellingham is it a great destination for travelers who want to explore the Pacific Northwest. But Bellingham is more than just a pitstop - it's a destination in its own right. We start in the historic district of Fairhaven. With its Victorian architecture, boutique shops, restaurants, and Stones Throw Brewery, it is a great place to start our tour.
Next, we'll head over to some of the best parks in Bellingham. Boulevard Park is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. This park offers stunning views of Bellingham Bay, as well as walking trails, picnic areas, and a playground for kids. After stopping at some local breweries we make our way to Whatcom Falls Park, another must-visit destination. This park is home to beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails, and picnic areas.
For those who love outdoor adventures, Bellingham is a paradise. Mt. Baker is a stunning mountain range that's located just a short drive from the city. Here, you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and more. The San Juan Islands are another popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. These islands offer beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and plenty of opportunities for kayaking and whale watching.

Forgot to mention in the comment I just left. I love just walking around and exploring. Bellingham looks like an ideal town to do that in. Have walked 20 miles in a day before just exploring in and around town. There are some great parks to walk in, including a cool marina. Lots of walking trails. Definitely looks like a town I want to revisit and spend more time in.

Seeing your video on Fairhaven brought many happy memories. I raised my son in Bellingham and worked in the courthouse for 15 years. As an Irish emigrant, I was homesick until I moved to Bellingham in the 70's. The area has changed a lot; for the better. Thank you for the great trip down memory lane. Enjoy your travels.

I've only been to Seattle (twice), once for some much needed long-weekend R&R back around 2008 and the other time, nearly a decade ago, to meet a best male friend who flew in from Europe to visit his sister. Great video! Thank you for showing in a perfect light what SO many of us love about Bellingham. We first came here from Louisiana for a job interview in April 2009 and IMMEDIATELY knew Bellingham was quite special. The rest is history and we’ve been happily settled in the Barkley area off Chandler Pkwy since 2012. That being said, we’d love to do what y’all have done with world travel for the first few years of retirement (in 4.5 years)…and ultimately come back to this special City of Subdued Excitement for the um, countdown. Great video and introduction to your hometown. Similar vibe to Vancouver. My daughter in Vancouver and I thoroughly enjoy all the activities there when I visit. World class skiing, white water rafting, golf, biking, hiking etc all within short drives. Funny to see "historical" areas in North America when you have seen truly historical places on your travels. Such young countries US and Canada. Adults are such fun suckers with the sliding down water! Cheers!

My family has always traveled and I have come to enjoy your videos from Europe and Asia. As a lover of travel and beer, how could I not enjoy your channel? Anyway, I am taking my 18 years old to PNW next week. My wife and I lived on Whidbey Island decades ago. Since we are hiking North Cascades and Deception Pass and doing a day trip to Vancouver, Bellingham was the perfect home base. Weeks after we made that decision, I saw this review, very well timed. Bellingham and the surrounding areas are beautiful with so much to do. We lived and worked there for 20 years, our kids graduated from Squalicum high school and one of them from WWU. The number of craft beer options in town has to be record per square mile! We have been enjoying all of your videos and this too is a good one. Happy travels!

Thanks for this! We are from Vancouver BC and we have become very familiar with the area over the past 25 years since we purchased a recreation property at Black Mt Ranch on the Mt Baker Highway. Since retiring a few years ago, we decided to base ourselves in the area each summer. We love it! We tent camp at local state parks, we walk the trails, my husband plays pickleball at Cornwall Park and I have fun exploring the area food stores, including Trader Joes!

We really enjoy your videos. Since we first started watching we have since bought an apartment in Portimão along the Algarve! We are now currently back home in Olympia, WA and will return to Portugal in November to stay through next April. It is hard to find anywhere more beautiful than the PNW in the summer months! 😎

Wow! I kinda want to move there now! I have an aunt who lives there and she loves it. I was there a few years ago to tour Western with my son and yes, beautiful campus. We didn’t really tour the town tho. He ended up down in Tacoma at PLU. Enjoy your time at home!

Hi Guys, I was hoping you would make a video of your hometown. Bellingham looks like a lovely place to live. I like that there is so much greenery and it's right on the water. I imagine that it's not a cheap place to live either. As a side note, I recorded and edited my first video last week and was shocked by the amount of work involved. I now understand how much work goes into making your videos. I am looking forward to your videos from Poland!

Yes, it is expensive to live in Bellingham!! A starter home will cost you $500k if you are lucky. A key factor for us when we decided to sell everything, and travel was the cost of living in Bellingham. It is nice that you appreciate the amount of work that editing takes!! We are often asked what we do all day, Carrie is editing now as I respond to comments on KZfaq!! 😄 We do enjoy the process, it gives us something to focus on. Thank you for watching, Mark!! I never heard of Bellingham until today and you guys really sold the area, and I guess an amazing place to raise a family. A really lovely, peaceful and quaint town to visit. BTW, As beer lovers like myself, I hope you guys visit Germany and experience their Oktoberfest. The best time to see the UK or other parts of Western Europe is summertime.

They just forgot to mention it is a dying city, with homeless, moving up from Seattle along with drugs and crime. Don't be fooled, it used to be a beautiful place, the wildlife and parks are amazing, there are lovely residential neighbourhoods, but it also has another side. We need real leaders, with backbone who will clean up the filth.

@@sjordan7085 Every city has homeless people, and they are not "filth." That is a horrible thing to say about people who have nothing. It is not a dying city whatsoever. Just one look at this video shows how much is going on. Cities change and grow over time, you're just bitter that's it's not some utopia you have in your mind from the old days. Bellingham is awesome.

I’ve never lived in Bellingham but it is one my favorite places. For the last 35 years I’ve lived in a bunch of spots in Western Washington in the Seattle area, but I lived in Ferndale and Blaine for awhile. I kept my boat in Blaine because in theory it’s one tack to Sucia and the other San Juan and Gulf islands, even though the wind rarely cooperated on that. I really like Lake Padden that’s just a bit south of Fairhaven and Chuckanut drive is one of the most scenic drives. When I lived in Blaine right after 9/11, they started inspecting trains at the border and sending them through an X-ray machine, so just like at the airport the inspectors would sometimes back the train up to look at something again. One time I was 45 minutes late for work because of the train stopping and blocking intersections. Eventually they moved the whole thing further south because the train was also blocking ambulances.

They still have that problem with the coal trains that move through. It can take 15 to 20 minutes. My parents live up in Semiahmoo and have to cross those tracks daily. Lake Padden, the golf course, Chuckanut Dr. Lake Whatcom, there are so many more places that we could have mentioned and the video was still almost 23 minutes!! Thank you for watching!! Cheers!!🍻

The weather in December is gray and rainy. Bellingham has the same climate as Seattle, so we get about 4.5 glories months a year of sunshine.

I didnt know you guys were from there! That’s our go to US day trip /shop stop . Love Lynden too..We live just across the border with it and we can see Mt Baker from our house 😊. Went to Western in the 70's. The beer scene then was the Cap Hansen's and the Railroad Tavern (?). Lived in Fairhaven at the time and loved to take a cruise down Chuckanut Drive to Bow and head out to Samish Island.

Cap Hansans is still there, and I believe the Railroad may be as well. There are now 17 breweries in Whatcom County with several other tap houses. You may have to make the 6-hour drive from the Tri Cities soon!!

Hey guys! Cool video. When I stopped briefly in Bellingham before going to Canada last year I ate at the farmers market. Unfortunately, I didn't recognize any land marks in the video, but it's been a year, so... Maybe that area wasn't even in the video. Anyway, it looks like a great town with lots to do. I think this video makes you guys unique in that I don't remember ever seeing a stomping ground video from any other KZfaq travelers. Looks like there are more breweries there than McDonald's and Starbucks combined. How long was the flight from SE Asia to the airport near there, and what country did you actually leave from? Could tell you both are really enjoying being back. Looking forward to hearing what part of the world you will visit next!

Boundry Bay Brewing is directly across the street from the farmers market and a block up from Gruff Brewing. You just missed it!! Our flight from SE Asia was LONG!! We did a video about it.
