I recently bought the 802 and they really do sound fantastic! Suddenly all my CD's and SACD's do sound so more open en get so much more détails. A real delight for the ears! Thank you B&W!

Just an overwhelming amount of hands-on construction. I first heard the 801's in NY at a known Long Island dealer who also presented a myriad amount of audio gear including Mark Levinson. I remembered the 801's were very detailed and lush. After seeing this video that encompasses the painstaking details bred into this speaker by a dedicated British manufacturer, I better understand the company's DNA that goes into every single unit. My only regret is that I never bought a pair of 801d's and agree with one post that B&W should have kept this incredible speaker in its current inventory. Magnificent.

No, I'm not saying that. But like VW, there are much more a "wannabe premium" brand. The result is visually beautiful, but the actual technical/sound result is really subject to debate. Also, like VW, they are "closet cheating" on their announced performances : 19 Hz announced for 803 D3, around 70 Hz mesured by german magasine(s), 8 ohms speakers going down to 3 ohms, and other stuff like this...

I still have and enjoy my DM305's that I purchased new back in the mid 90's... The technology that they put into this speaker is amazing... At low levels you don't even need a subwoofer... Not bad for a 6.5" woofer...

En tant que revendeur Belge ayant réussi à vendre DEUX paires d'enceinte modèle "monitor 808", (très haut de gamme expérimental de l'époque) j'ai été amené à visiter avec la délégation Belge, ces usines B&W en Angleterre. La vingtaine de personnes composant cette délégation, avions ainsi rencontré John Bowers. Fondateur de la marque Bowers & Wilkins et décédé en 1987. (Remerciement à Luc Vanderheyden, B&W benelux)

I love it. That explain why you charge a fair bit for a pair of speakers... I guess those boys and gals needs to get pay for their great efforts. Now I will happily save up and buy 802d.

Согласен полностью с вами! 20 лет слушаю их. Менять их просто неначто. А спорят лишь те, кто жалеет денег на этот бренд и те кто бесится и не любит фирму-только потому что не могут купить. Хают и обсирают, только всем понятно что только себя!

The 800 en 802 are still manufactured in England! The other types first in Skandinavia but now indeed in China!

Never. I have the JBL K2 ---No JBL comes close. All due respect to JBL which yes are fantastic things of the past. Nothing compares to the level of technical evolution of a B&W

Would have been interesting to see a factory video from 1980's and see the difference. And they never should have stopped making the 801D..instead they should have applied a lower profit margin.The 801 is the heritage speaker & it should be in the line.

If I wanted to listen to opera drowning out all dialogue, I'd go to rehearsals at Covent Garden. Not everyone wants to listen to La Traviata competing with machinery at 90db. You should have employed someone with an idea of sound mixing (and a directional mike turned down to -20db for machinery). 'A good ship spoiled for a ha'p'orth of tar'. An inspiring company, just 10 miles along the coast from where I live, in Brighton. They also repair Nakamichi cassette decks, at their service depot.

Yes its there the one that looks like a shell, weird looking made of special plastic, must cost a fortune thus days. I have from one dealer that the lower end models ( definitely nit the 800 series) are made in China now?

Такое производство-можно подумать для всех по карману эти гробы- приобретать---мы уж лучше на своих советских колонках S90 послушаем музыку-и то приятнее будет то-а сам процесс изготовления прикольно посмотреть.Не плохо конечно но в таких больших количествах и цены должны быть приемлемыми или почти за даром раздавать их людям-----и то не каждый приобретёт или захочет такое чудо-юдо взять себе--но бесплатно я бы взял.
