We stayed two nights in Jim Thorpe Pa, it is a town in eastern Pennsylvania. We walked the trails, took a scenic train ride, and a ghost tour. You can bike ride the trails, and whitewater raft the Lehigh River.
The towns former name was Mauch Chunk and it details the area’s coal mining history, and the life of the town’s namesake, Native American athlete Jim Thorpe.
There are so many cute little shops throughout the town and plenty of nice restaurants to eat.

I went yesterday, but did not go for hiking, it was 5 pm, I walked around the town, most of the stores were closed or closing, the town is really beautiful, colorful. I came from Bushkill fall, hiking down and up took me like 3 hours. I was tired to hike again. Really enjoyed the little town and the railway station .. everything was like a I am in a completely different country. Left at 7 pm to pocono mountain villa where I was staying. I missed the scenic train traveling, I was late, last train is at 3 pm. Some day I will go there again and to stay for a day or two.

Lived on the other side from 02 to 03. A LOT has changed since then and not for the better might I add. Also, there are 3 sections to JT. The shopping district, the hill, and Eastside which is across the Gorge. You should explore all 3 if you want the true JT experience.

Would you recommend someone who has a small baby to visit the town? Do you think stroller can go through the trail?

its gravel so it depends on the type of stroller

The hills are steep and mansion tour is not for strollers.

How is the jail in this bubbly little town? Do they have a lockup or do you go straight to county?

That’s a good question. There is a tour of the old jail. Don’t know anything about their current jail.

@@MrStan913The county jail is on 93 by the animal hospital. Basically the base of the mountain over near Nesquehoning.
