Taking the backroads can bring so much excitement to your long haul trip. Whether you are just pleasure traveling or a trucker delivering a load, the backroads are full of surprises.
This route in particular was one that I couldn’t help but get excited about. None of the stops I made were planned. I found them along the way and I think that is the beauty of this video.
Being a truck driver it is hard to find the time let alone the energy to get out of the truck. I’m trying to help solve that problem for others. Let’s get out together and I’ll show you exactly how to get there and where to park that big rig!
In this video I visit Garfield Kansas, Montoya New Mexico, White Oaks New Mexico, and Magdalena New Mexico.
I have written blog posts on these places but the website is currently down for repair. As soon as it is up again I’ll make posts on my social media and add the links here.

I won't lie the job is hard, but it is truly what you make it. Trucking is a fight all on it's own but if you are up for it and can push through the battles there is so much to be experienced

The first place you stopped, in Kansas, reminded me of a trip I made to the geographic center of the lower 48 states, in Lebanon, KS. It has a chapel, too, even smaller! It was a nice bit of heartland USA, so I'd recommend it to you if your travels go in that direction - off US 36, mid-Kansas. Stay safe out there!

I also enjoy getting out of the truck and walk around. We spend 10-14 hours in that tin can, it’s nice to get out and get some exercise. I run in the upper Midwest, MN,SD, ND, IA, NE, WI, and once in awhile MT and WY. So several cities I’ve visited multiple times but still look for different areas to walk to. Glad to see you are enjoying it, it’s not work when you’re having fun.

So great seeing you doing what you do and sharing with us. In my past life I would ask employees (not in trucking) to take a different way home this week. It was to inspire them to think out of the box . You might find the new way even faster cause of less traffic or see something that excites you or never knew was there. May your travels be safe and with lots of Dog treats :) .

Maintenance on the truck is never ending but also maintenance for emotional health of the operator is as if not more important. Stopping and placing the schedule demands in the back seat and yours in the front is a critical step to gaining equilibrium. Love your videos

It’s always great to learn and explore different things in different towns because a lot of them have historical significance. Whenever my wife and I go on vacations we always love to learn a lot of histories in these cities and towns and villages as well. It was fun watching you and Dakota explore and learning about the history of the towns you’ve visited in New Mexico and hopefully I’ll be able to go to those towns and see what you have just saw and learn.
