This is an outstanding upgrade on the sausage extruders with remarkably minimal added hardware. Obviously the small form factor helps a lot on setup and versatility. They could improve the radius by 2-3ft by pivoting the extruder headworks while reverse pivoting the nozzle.

When we eventually have settlements on the Moon or Mars... I believe 3D printers would just about have to be used. Right now are there ways to use the surrounding land at the job site to process into the printing material? That is you go into a very remote job site and dig up dirt, clay, process it, add what ever.. then use that material to print the structure?

Eliminating the gantry structure and going to a square nozzle are game changers. Swap out that paintbrush and replace it with some plastic like a cake frosting knife and with a little trowel work before it completely dries it might be ready for the airless sprayer. Love this technology.

This printer is a huge improvement. Rounded corners are structurally and visually great.. also expensive. If it could print designs on walls as well, such as corbels, I see huge potential.

Bingo... this printer is way better than anything else on the market, making stuff like MudBots obsolete technology now. I'm guessing he has a patent on the extruder head that smooths the layers also.. Really cool stuff especially since it's mobile and doesn't need the framework anymore.

Pumicecrete is by far the best building material on the planet Pumicecrete is a mixture of pumice cement and water mixed and poured into a set of reusable forms walls are poured from 12"to 24" thick pumicecrete is fireproof termite proof rust rot and mold proof and has a high R value and good sound attenuation solid poured walls means no critters can live in your walls Pumicecrete can be built for a fraction of the cost and time

This is super cool! My fellow Texan you need to print some campaign signs to run for congress! Texas needs you and the squad could use another member! You have the progressive attitude, quick wit, no nonsense "git 'er" done type persona and the perfect platform to launch. There's a reason folk gravitate to you and in today's political climate ... it takes strong women of color like you who are unapologetic while standing their ground and make a coalition to change the world! 👏🏼You got my vote 🗳

Interesting video, Belinda. Thanks. I wonder about the coarse texture of the crete. Seeing videos of families with unpainted walls, it seems that kids would constantly be losing lots of skin to them. Is there a smoothing process done to them before residency? (other than the smoothing spatula) Personally, I don't find the gray concrete walls pleasant at all and would paint them. Also, very smooth walls are much, much easier to clean. I'll have to check out more of the vids in your Frank Mix.

OK, Im already a fan of 3D printing of construction but I have questions about this latest printer. Crane lifting points? does it have any and if not, it should. Can it print alkaline concrete or fly ash concrete? The HMI or human machine interface, what options does it have? What are the 3D modeling softwares , are they proprietary or open source modeling softwares? can the machine be rented, how much? I can see this thing being painted green and rented by Sunbelt so if it can't, it should be rented, guarantee it will pay off in the long run for the company.

Yes, 4 lift points on the transportation assembly. Yes, testing has been done with alkaline concrete, fly ash, and other Geopolymers. HMI has 3 options standard with all printers (tablet, desktop via Ethernet/wifi, and joystick controls). Gcode is made is Autocad or Revit and Apis Cor has made user friendly plug-ins for both programs. All equipment and software available for lease for $8k per month.

Not sure that they are more than 10 3D houses nationwide, walls are just 5% of the total cost, 3D printing (plastic or grout (concrete contain gravel)) is still a pipe dream.

is it strong enough to deal with earth movement? the lack of reinforcement makes me question. and if reinforcement is already in the concrete mix whats the life of the nosles? will they need replacing mid job with the extra abrasiveness for the fiberglass or whatever reinforcement? this obviously needs a special concrete mix to work right, is it mixed on the mechiene right before placement? might end up getting a lot of rejected concrete its its not. how long does the pump last if its moving such viscous stuff? do the walls have to be curved for strength? curved walls are cool, but the stuff in buildings is still mostly rectangles. interrupted prints, if the mechiene gets bumped or moved is there a procedure to realign it seamlessly with the previously printed bits or are you just SOL and have to scrape it off and start again. the alignment ting might be a problem if you need something to be load bearing that's outside he range of the machine where movements are required. are the finished walls thin enough for wifi to make it through? can you just feed it any design or do you have to pay attention to the cardboard wobble inner bit? also rust sencor? A does it rust so quickly that the process of rusting during a job will make it fall apart? B or does it rust normally and its just so sensitive to minute changes that it will fail the print because rust built up as it was printing? will wind make it fail too if its that temperamental that it needs a rust sensor? if the computer does deem it too rusty whats the fix? cut the wires to the rust sencor and keep going. I've seen some old buildings where stucco was adhered straight to concrete and it did not age well, idk what exactly the issue was but it looked like water issues making it flake off wired because the back of it wasint open to dry correctly or something, they ended up haveing to strip it off and paint the lumpy concrete which ya know peeled, making stuff stick to concrete long term is tricky. 3d printed affordable housing just sounds like the most buzzwords smashed together as possible so I'm naturally skeptical, next you are gonna tell me how drones and vr are somehow involved. less gimic does it actually work?

Awesome video once again but I have to request. Could you do a video on the housing crisis? Prices and rents are skyrocketing and it's not just inflation. Is there anything we can do? I know it's a really big topic but I'd like to hear your take on it. I trust you more than anyone else to tell the truth talking about housing.

Housing prices are finally leveling off as the increasing interest rates do their job in tamping down purchases. New mortgages and refi's are WAY down now, leaving mostly institutional investors to keep trying to by up all the homes in the country, and some real estate service companies have begun layoffs.
@VagabondTE
@VagabondTE 2 жыл бұрын
@@whiteknightcat I don't know what all that means but it sounds worse
@whiteknightcat
@whiteknightcat 2 жыл бұрын
@@VagabondTE Sorry. Prices are already leveling off because interest rates are rising, so fewer potential homeowners are trying to buy. Many purchases now are by private investors paying all cash, and outbidding those potential homeowners. That's one of the big factors that has been driving up housing costs. Look for a decline in housing prices over the next year as inventory and demand dry up.
@VagabondTE
@VagabondTE 2 жыл бұрын
@@whiteknightcat I don't know a lot about this but I've been hearing that those private investors are actually giant companies making massive long-term Investments. So there's nothing driving those prices down when they can just buy up all that inventory and sit on it. It sounds like prices are only going to get worse because it's essentially an artificially created scarcity.
@VagabondTE
@VagabondTE 2 жыл бұрын
@@whiteknightcat the last thing you mentioned was demanded drying up. However I think it's private investor demand specifically that will dry up. Tho the amount of people needing homes isn't changing. So as the inventory dries up that should drive prices even higher.

All these videos and I've YET to hear the WHY. Are concrete printed houses greener? No. Cheaper? No. More compact? No. Better looking? Earthships made with old tires are better looking. I guess they WILL destroy construction worker jobs. Oh, and ensure only large corporations that can afford the capital costs are building our homes. What could go wrong?
