I think Rayn Neil has the most beautiful bonsai place of all. That location in the middle of pure nature is fantastic and so many of his trees is amazing. It must have been so cool and pure joy to visit.

What a absolutely stunning collection, the time dedication required to keep this garden going blows me away... I’m almost sad that this absolutely gorgeous display can’t be viewed by the general public. 🙂😞 His incredible art deserves to be viewed and admired by the rest of the world!

Thks for bringing us this video. What an outstanding collection of bonsai ! And ( with a smug look on my face ) it was interesting to note that even at Mirai, they have the occasional juniper and pine that has'brownd off' and is losing its normal growth. I’m in the middle of something similar - which I attribute to spider mites. Maybe it is something else ? But good to know that it also happens to those that master the art. Anyway - cheers for the video old chap .

I live in California and my favorite bonsai tree that I have is my 16 year old dual truck Madrone tree. I haven’t seen to many people growing Madrone trees. Because they are so beautiful with the red flaking bark.

Thank you for taking us along with you to your trip to Mirai! What beautiful trees! So many pines and so few maples. I must admit I am a sucker to maples and flowering bonsai! It’s amazing to see how large his collection is, and such a stunning landscape and buildings. Just amazing! Happy New Year!

Totally agreed! So many massive trees but so few maples/deciduous. I heard deers ate most of their maples in the past and they need to build a fence up before adding more maples..😲

@@MomijiEn Oh my, that would be heart breaking, losing a cherished tree(s) to deer! Thankfully no deer round me, just squirrels that love to bury nuts in my pots and eat my fertilizer! Do you have any issues with the wildlife around you?

I enjoy the walkabouts. Here in NW SC we get thunderstorms for 8-9 months of the year that rip through my yard with 40-60 mph gusts. How do y'all deal with stormy weather with large outdoor collections? Anyone? Thanks!

I usually move all trees on the ground if gusty winds are expected. I heard enough horror stories of trees blown by the winds and broken branches etc 😟 You may also want to protect some trees if they don't do so well with damp soil.

is it typical of american bosai studios to have larger trees? where are all the Shohin Bonsai??
@MomijiEn
@MomijiEn 3 жыл бұрын
Ryan works mostly on collected large materials. There are Shohin to chuhin bonsai trees but "in general", bonsai trees you can find in the US tend to be larger in size than bonsai trees in Japan.
