The Village Hotel Bristol opened in December 2018 in Filton which is near Cribbs Causeway shopping mall and a short drive from Bristol city centre.
The hotel is moderately priced and is a popular choice for business customers in the week and visitors to the South West on the weekend. The hotel features a really big and well-equipped gym and pool which is popular with locals. You can see the big advert for the gym on the front of the striking black Village Hotel building.
I managed to film some of the gym but unfortunately, there were people in the pool so I couldn’t really film that area.
The hotel features a big open plan bar/restaurant with some quirky artwork and of course, it is Bristol, so it does have some Banksy. The lobby also has a Starbucks.
We stayed in a Club Room which is the same size as the standard rooms but features Sky TV and a Dyson hairdryer. The rooms are full of tech with lots of USB plugs, Chromecast and Amazon Echo.
One of the quirky things is the ‘see through’ bathroom which turns opaque at a touch of a button (apart from the door). This may not be the best if you have to share a room with someone you don’t know that well.
The hotel is close to the M32 and the M4 M5 junction, Filton was where the
Concorde was built and the hotel is close to the big aerospace companies which include BAE Systems, Rolls Royce and Airbus.
I went into Bristol city centre on the train which only takes 14 minutes. The nearest station is a 10-minute walk away (Patchway), there is only a train every hour so check the timetables.
* We stayed at the Village Hotel as part of a press trip, Mel was attending the Bristol Fashion Week event at the Cribbs Causeway Mall. Somehow, I (Mr W) wasn’t invited to the fashion event despite being a style icon!

Hello viewers - just to clarify that the gym is open 24 hours but the pool is NOT, so we're afraid if you do want a midnight swim you just have to wait until the early morning. Anyway at that time of night you should be relaxing in the bar!

Hahaha I think you're a style icon! I mean, look at those cool shades you have on :) Looked like a really hip hotel to stay at. I like the colorful doors, walls and frames. Never seen blue toilet paper before!! Alexa is a nice touch too. So many futuristic things at this place.

It was good to stay in a hotel which was a bit different. It is quite reasonably priced too and of course, the blue toilet paper.

Like that eclectic multicolor geometric pattern on the wall, adds a character to the whole place.

I agree with Wallboy's comments. The room I stayed in was fairly small and only suitable for couples or business travellers. You'd have to really be comfortable with your co-traveller to trust the privacy glass (which covers the shower and toilet but the main bathroom door is still clear so you'd have to trust them not to peek). It was unclear how or if/where the Alexa function could be accessed. The room was cold even after I cranked up the a/c. No blue TP so that must've been a short lived thing. The hotel is very stylish but that doesn't make up for an uncomfortable night on a rock solid mattress. Will doubtless end up staying here again due to work but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Wow guys! That room is amazing! The wallpaper is stunning, the toilet privacy glass is so cool, and THAT BLUE TP!!! So fun!

That wallpaper is definitely bright. It was very good hotel with quirky gadgets for the price.

It is nice. Blue toilet paper is fun. Such a fancy place. I want to stay there. Yea, the glass in the bathroom you have to go with someone you know well. Very cool that they allow locals to get a membership for the gym.

One of the most unique hotels we've stayed in for a long time.

Stayed there over New Year Eve 2019. The size of the room is not suited for the likes of a family- more suit for the likes of couples and business travellers.. The Alexia system didn't work at all and its different language settings wasn't in place - not good for foreign travellers. Bare in mind that they don't have a telephone which is connected to the reception, we had to call reception via our mobile phone or having to physically show up over the reception yourself. The size of the room would allow good access and movability for a wheelchair when we stayed there- there no way a wheelchair could do a 360 degree turn. Plus the physically handicapped parking was situated away the entrance of the hotel. As such this would be awkward for a pram to manoeuvre there as well. Note that there no cupboard in the room, one have to either hook-up your garment on the wall, or the "opening" next to the desk. The window size in the bath room form which the ventilation was poor form which there was a build up of condensation- as with the wheelchair issue for room movability- there happens to be a 2 inch raise point which would be hard for wheelchair access. The standard size of the bath room towels were slightly smaller and we were provided with just one towel- with that you would have to go downstairs and ask reception to get in touch with house keeping PS I written about this hotel here before - and I found my points were removed somehow - all of there points were valid from which we had a letter of apology for poor service.
