LOL. I would not be surprised at all to learn that people tried to jump that fence. I would imagine they regretted it soon after though. You should put Virginia Beach on your list! It is such a lovely area. We always enjoy our beach vacations in this area. The beaches are wide and clean. And if you visit this park, the beach here isn't usually too crowded. It can get crowded out on the main beach by the Virginia Beach boardwalk. But we usually enjoy that as well. We love lighthouses too. We always stop off to see them anytime we travel near one. So we were disappointed these were closed on our recnet visit. But thankfully we had seen them before - and they are open to tourists again so perhaps we will be able to visit again whenever we next visit Virginia Beach. Thanks so much for watching!

It actually was a really fun adventure when we recently stayed in a yurt in a different park. I had mixed feeling because of the no-electricity-or-running-water thing. But we had such a fun weekend. This park at the beach was so beautiful. We want to stay there one day as well. Thank so much for watching and commenting!

It has some very nice trails. There are some swampy sections so take a mosquito net and insect repellent.

We really liked this area, and are hoping to go back for a longer stay in the future. The beach on the base (Fort Story) was great and a lot of the military families were enjoying it when we were there to see the lighthouses last week. We were not charged anything.

It is such a lovely area! That is strange that they didn’t charge you anything as we were last time we went to see the lighthouses - though that wasn’t recent - and we looked up the prices online when we made the video. But that is awesome. It is even better free. Did you climb up to the top of the old lighthouse? So glad y’all got to visit the area!

Unfortunately, no. I cannot do all the stairs on my ankle. Walking was difficult enough. They were charging people to climb to the top.

I would love this beach, small waves 🌊 please! Those lighthouses are beautiful! Would definitely stay in a cabin 😆! Why are they closing trails during COVID? It seems like outdoor activities would be the safest! Those trees are interesting! The bridges are really nice throughout!

This really is such a lovely park! Sorry for the confusion… the trails are open. The trail center is closed due to COVID. It is a building near the start of all the trails that has some educational exhibits as well as meeting facilities and some restrooms. So you can walk the trails, you just can’t access the building. The trees in the swamp area are fascinating to look at. And the less intense waves in this area of the beach are very relaxing. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

I know the feeling! I am not a ginger but I am pretty pale and burn very easily. Lots of sunscreen used whenever we go to places like this! There are some really nice hiking trails at this park. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

Yes, we love it in the off season too. We end up there in pretty much every season since some of Jack's family still lives in the area. But it does get very crowded in summer. Spring and fall is very pleasant in the area. We even like winter though it is too cold to hang out at the beach in the winter. Thanks so much for watching our video and taking the time to comment!

Alice and Jack, we need you guys to make a quick cameo in all your videos. I feel like you guys are the Wizards behind the curtain. This park looks beautiful and has to be nice that it is not so wavy. Our family loves seeing light houses also. But that dark water because of the roots looked creepy - just waiting for swamp things. We are actually pretty introverted so it is out of our comfort zone to be doing these videos at all even though we are not appearing in them - and aren't super eager to be the stars of our videos. But we get it - viewers like to get to know the people they watch on KZfaq and seeing them is a part of that. We will consider making cameos in the future... The swamps do look a little creepy. But they are kind of beautiful. This park is a great place to get away to nature in the middle of a bustling resort city. Thanks so much for watching our video about First Landing State Park!

Beautiful beach. Thats me, I would want to climb the light house to the top for some wonderful views. Some great t/shirts in the gift store. Me! Me! Me! This was such a lovely park. We love lighthouses as well. We planned on checking it out on this visit but it was closed to the public when we filmed this 6 weeks ago. You couldn't even get near it since it was on a military base and they weren't letting tourists on at the time. But we have seen it before. Great views of the ocean and the city of Virginia Beach! This really is a lovely park. We want to go back when we are next in town as there are still a few trails we haven’t seen yet. And that beach is so relaxing compared to the busier public beach down the road (which is also lovely - just has lots of people there in the summer). Thanks for watching and commenting!

This really was a beautiful park. The calm beach is a lot less busy than the main tourist area along the boardwalk. And the camp sites and hiking trails were all first class. We highly recommend checking it out next time you are in the area. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

Beautiful place. Looks like a nice primitive beach compared to what I expected for Virginia Beach. Too bad the lighthouses were closed while you were there. Loved that hiking trail. Spanish moss and Cyprus trees are beautiful. That looked alot like reelfoot lake with the stumps sticking out of the water. Very nice video.

Yeah, they do have a more public beach with a boardwalk and fishing pier and restaurants and attractions a couple miles away. But this park is where people go for a more primitive back-to-nature beach experience. We do love lighthouses so it would have been cool to see them again. But the beautiful hiking trails through the woods and even through the bald cypress swamps were so lovely. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind comment!

Omgosh so the area around 5 minutes reminded me of going to Hell, Mexico with the rocks sticking out of the water! ♡ but way more serene and beautiful! This place is so incredible and I forwarded your video to our friend stationed at Fort Story :) I don't remember if I asked yet, but have you guys been to Jesse's (it's in VA Beach)??? Their smothered steak burrito is to die for!
