10 жыл бұрынWhen I returned for a visit to an old beloved childhood place, The Ludwigsburg Palace (Schloss Ludwigsburg), in Ludwigsburg, Germany, we were pleasantly surprised to see a special event taking place on the grounds: The World's Largest Pumpkin Festival, featuring all sorts of sculptures created out of pumpkins in the shapes of people, animals and unique items of all kind.

As a serviceman stationed there 1971-1974 at Krabbenloch Kaserne I would visit the Palace as often as I could. I took a officers daughter that i was seeing there in 73 and we had the best time. I wish I had those pictures I took of her back then because 43 years later we met again and have been dating ever since. One of the great love stories ever told.

My father was stationed in Germany. I was lucky to have a great childhood in Germany. One of my favorite castles I was able to see was Ludwigsburg castle. I was only 8 or 9 years old but I remember it like it was yesterday. I am now 56 years old. I also got to see ludwig the 2nds lenhofer castle. We went somewhere different every weekend and took long trips all over Europe in the summer.

Ooo you missed all of the pumpkin-based foods! There is a foodstand with pastas, soups, cakes, drinks-- you should come back soon! :-) Thanks for your video, I enjoyed you two.

Thanks for the nice comments; actually we did try a couple of food items, had to edit the video so it wouldn't run too long, but I have photos that I took. Again, thanks & yes, I would love to come back again.

When I went to see the Schloss Schonbrunn palace in Austria they did not allow cameras but I did take a small video only because I had too.

I would love to go back, so many fond memories of the beautiful countryside and the great friends I made. In fact I'm now dating a girl I met there 45 years ago.

I think they may have been somewhere in the back area around the gardens / small zoo, et. but I didn't capture everything on video.
