Sandland is the creation of one of my friends. It's also become a group effort among lots of different people to build a wacky adult-but-young-at-heart playground! The property features an underground tunnel maze as well as gardens, trail and stairway networks, ziplines, a treehouse, and the former Minnesota Zoo monorail!
This video is a quick intro to Sandland and some of the projects we're working on!
The official Sandland website is tunnelcity.com/
The Facebook page is / sandland-181721285219560

Not luggage-- old mine carts. We ent through a few iterations of carts and wagons before settling on the ones we use now. We really should get rid of the old ones! But like the channel is named...

Have you considered a hallway based off a tesla valve, where a section of maze is easy to enter but leaving branches you off into side tunnels? I am not trying to kill anyone, I thought the other way around would be good to keep people out of secret sections.

@@saveitforparts how is air circulation achieved down in the tunnels? Do you have to dig or install air ducts? It all looks great fun!

How many cubic feet of tunnel can 1 man make in 8 hours? Im sitting on a sandstone formation also. I have a deep hollar and a hill side I have begun to excavate by hand. I haven't gotten to the solid sandtone shelf yet, still a bunch of dirt and broken up sandstones about the size of basketballs and beachballs.
@saveitforparts
@saveitforparts 4 ай бұрын
It really depends on your location, tools, hardness of the sandstone, if you have help, and what you do with the excavated material! I can make 40-50 cubic feet of tunnel in a couple hours with a combo of electric demolition hammers and angle grinder. However, the deeper underground we go, the longer it takes to haul the sand out. Then we have to move the sand again, sometimes several times, to get it off the property. If you can just dump your sand straight on the ground without annoying any downstream neighbors or government agencies, then it's faster!

@@saveitforparts I have a decent size 30 acres, and areas that need filled. Sand will just be dumped in these low spots, or used in the yard for leveling. I bought the blue Harbor Freight demolition hammer. Haven't gotten deep enough to use it yet.
@saveitforparts
@saveitforparts 4 ай бұрын
I haven't tried the Harbor Freight one yet. I really like the XtremePowerUS chisels. The name is dumb but they're only $89 at Home Desperate and they last a long time if you put a 100-micron screen over the vents to keep sand out of the motor.

@saveitforparts

The tunnels are closed up to keep critters out. The monorail gets racoons in it which definitely smell bad, we've been working on blocking them out. There are some neighbor cats who like to leave us dead birds on the deck :-P
