Ifly 777 That's exhausting... You also have to care about your personal life, and with 12 hours you wouldn't be even able to fly the next day. Have you ever flown as a pilot?

Ifly 777 the fact is flying 12 hours a day will turn the passion into a chore. Yes, it sounds amazingly fun, but after a point the fun just goes away because now you are forced to do it.

He was a Senior Officer (S/O) because he had 3 stripes, F/O's have 2 strips, Seniors have 3 and Captains have 4!!

It used to be great for kids to come up to the flight-deck back in the pre-911 days if they knew the pilot. I remember as a 6 year old child visiting the cockpit of an old Aer Lingus 737 while going to Euro Disney in Paris back in 1998. Will never forget it. Unfortunately today your not even allowed to have anyone in the jump-seat.

Yeah it's sad, people nowadays are almost scared to go in the cockpit. I'm guessing just because of all the 9/11 stuff :(

EasyJet have really nice pilots I have visited cockpits on 2 of their aircrafts and they were really welcoming.

Yep, thats my experience too. Went in an Easyjet Cockpit in Feb this year (on the ground, of course), the pilots were amazing!

Real nice company and pilots. Flew with them last week. They actually leave the cockpit door open right until departure and you have a chance of talking with them when you board the plane. Never seen that before.

Nr1from1978 It depends on the decision of the flight attendants if you are allowed access to cockpit, so it is mostly luck.

On my flight they left it open to let Air in, we were in Majorca so it was Hot, but leaving the UK the closed door to keep heat in

I always thought this was the bar area on Easyjet and Ryanair planes (judging by a lot of the people they carry)....they must have removed the drinks fixtures for take off!!

always wished to be a pilot, but , i cant forget that moment when an airhostes and a pilot screamed on me get out !! just because i asked them to visit the flight deck , although i was a little kid 9 years old , after that all my dreames shattered 😢

Looking at the magazines spread out in the cockpit I now know what pilots are doing during the boring periods of flight, when the AP is flying the aircraft! :-)

When your boarding just ask the flight attendant, and they'll usually say yes unless there isn't time, or after you an ask to go up too.

Rimo Abdallah No. Although the A320/A330 family cockpits look identical to each each other it's not an A330. Plus Easyjet doesn't fly the A330.

Please explain the benefits of a control column over a side-stick. And by the way Embreaer are using them on some of their aircraft. Boeing will go with a sidestick in the future. Its just a matter of time.
