Visiting the Virginia Beach Boardwalk and Fishing Pier

In mid-September, we took a trip to Virginia Beach, Virginia for a few days in a hotel room overlooking the ocean. Join us as we walk down the Virginia Beach boardwalk. We also tour the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier - and even ate dinner at the seafood restaurant on the pier, Ocean Eddie's. The crowds may be down and the temperature may be lowering, but we still found a lot to do on the Virginia Beach ocean front.

I've spent many hours there during my navy days.loved the whole area all the way to sandbrige,little creek,Norfolk etc ...from 1987-1990.Ive gotta give a huge shout out to Rachel.

We’ve watched some of those sand sculpture shows on TV, it’s amazing what they can do with sand! What a really nice beach area, I could go for a peanut buster parfait from dairy queen right about now!

Yes, those sand sculptures are amazing! I wish they held the event this year so we could have gone and gotten some footage of them creating the sculptures and then the final product now that we are doing KZfaq videos. Maybe next year. This really was a fun beach area. And I assure you we did stop at the Dairy Queen - though a food review seemed unnecessary! Thanks so much for watching Bob & Kelly!

Thanks for taking us around the Virginia Beach boardwalk. The fishing pear is cool as well. We can't pass by the fudge counter without some free samples. Cinnamon bun fudge sounds awesome.

Ahhhhhhhh, that is so cool. I used to go to Virginia Beach on weekends and love their Marathon Weekend. If we didnt want to do the beach, we went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Yes, I used to live in VA too. LOL. Thanks for taking me back. LIKE #12. Stay safe on your travels my friends. 👍👍👍👍👍

It was pretty good. More bread than was necessary. But that restaurant had really good, fresh seafood. And cool atmosphere eating a nice meal on a pier overlooking the ocean. Thanks so much for watching, Jenn!

Highly recommend checking out the Navy SEAL Monument when you're here next. It's a good little tribute to all of our local badass frogmen :)

One of the best place for relaxing. Beautiful cement boardwalk and its very long , beach itself is so beautiful. I think festival time is must be very busy but great fun. I love that huge statue. Great presentation thank you for sharing

This is a very relaxing place. The beach is great but it does get really busy in the summer and around the festivals and other special events held on the beach. We love visiting this place. Thanks so much for watching!

Love Virginia Beach! My grandma and grandpa would take me when I was a little guy! Emily and I have talked about going there sometime soon!

You totally should plan a summer trip there. Our trip was in mid-September and it was already a bit cool out there. I would imagine it is way too cool in Virginia to enjoy a lot of beach activities right now (though there are some pretty great deals on hotel rooms off season). But if they can get back to a normal summer next year, this is a very fun vacation spot. Thanks so much for watching our video!

It is a very fun beach resort town. Fishing isn't really our thing but this pier is a great place to do it. We always have fun when we visit this area. Thanks so much for watching our video!

Glad you enjoyed it. We have always enjoyed Virginia Beach. It was the closest beach resort town to where we grew up. So it is always nice to go back. This kinda reminds me of Jones Beach near NYC. I liked all the monuments and that this beach gets lively with concerts, awesome vlog!

Yep, outside of Covid, during the peak summer season, this is a very lively place. We have been to sand sculpture competitions, music festivals and even a monster truck show on the beach during our visits over the years. Hopefully they can get back to normal next summer. I would settle for just every day Virginia Beach every day like pre covid, just let the festivals go in 2021 so everyone could feel safe about coming back thus ramping it up slowly

Any recommendations on a ocean front hotel within walking distance of this boardwalk?

Our favorite is Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront. It is right next to the Neptune statue. It is a very nice hotel with a good restaurant. It can be a bit expensive though. Hilton Garden Inn along the boardwalk is also a good option in a similar price range. Our favorite "low budget" option. It is an older property - but when we stayed it was clean and is at the southern end of the boardwalk. It is less expensive than other, newer options - but all the hotels along the boardwalk can be pretty expensive in peak, summer season. Hope you enjoy your visit to Virginia Beach!

Would be cool if Virginia Beach had a Skywheel like what Myrtle Beach and Atlantic City has.

Virginia Beach does have a ferris wheel a block away from the ocean front. But it is more of a open car amusement park type ferris wheel than an enclosed capsule observation wheel like they have in Myrtle Beach and Atlantic City. And the one is only about half as tall as the ones in Myrtle Beach and Atlantic City. But I have been on the one in Virginia Beach and you still get high enough up that you get some nice views of the beach. But you are right... it would be cool if they had a huge Skywheel like those other beaches do. Thanks for watching!

Yes! Lots of it. A number of the hotels you walk past on the boardwalk have restaurants on the bottom floor. There is also a seafood restaurant on the pier that we show in this video. There is another video on our channel called Touring Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach that features all the shops and restaurants that can be found on the main street that runs parallel to the boardwalk. There is also a video called Touring Rudee's Inlet. Rudee's Inlet is at the south end of the boardwalk. It has several nice restaurants in that area too. Lots of restaurants of all types to choose from in this area. There are also a number of convenience stores that have grab and go food. The area is easily walkable - but you have a lot more options if you have a car and can drive a little further away too. Thanks for watching!
