I'm having an old man yelling at cloud moment. When I got into magic in middle school, I would have killed to have all of these KZfaq videos. Before internet learning new moves could be extremely frustrating & take forever. First, it wasn't easy to find new tricks. The "professional" level of tricks were usually quite expensive when you did find them. The instructions were usually a few photocopied pages of text with a handful of illustrated panels. It wasn't easy to find people to help you with any parts causing problems. Even better, there weren't videos of tricks performed to watch before ordering new tricks. There were a couple of sentences in a catalog maybe with a photo or drawing to go with it. If you lived in the middle of nowhere, good luck finding anyone who can help show you what you're messing up. It's awesome to see people taking so much time to do tutorial videos. I don't do any tricks now but I still like geeking out on how certain tricks are done. I probably would have kept going with today's technology making videos like this easy to find. After awhile, I got tired of trying to find new resources, ordering tricks that really didn't live up to their catalog descriptions, & plus in high school my interests shifted to girls & drinking beer with friends. Needless to say, magic took a seat in the back & never worked its way back to the front.

Feel proud for figuring out the main X-card principle before you started, but the sandwich load really got me, I was seriously thinking you were handling 3 X-cards... pocket bit is really cool, there might be a way to simplify that with a color change, but the pocket version is so fair-looking and delightful.

Thank you for this video Lloyd, I've had over 20 year break from doing card tricks & cardistry moves ect as I moved into the world of mobile phone repairing so my hands & fingers are not as flexible anymore and i find standard size or 'poker' size decks to big to handle, I never used to but now its harder, bridge size I find much better handling but limited on buying nice designed decks.. I know practice makes perfect, I just wish I was 27 again when I was good at card handling..
@LloydB
@LloydB 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t see an issue with using bridge size cards dude. A lot of magicians used to use them frequently. Like Paul Daniel’s. The magic is all that counts. After reading this comment, it’s inspired me to do a few tutorials on some routines that are as sleight of hand intensive. The longer I am in magic, the more I find the real good effects require little to no sleight of hand. I’ll make a tutorial for you 🙂

Instead of using the pocketed card for the final vanish, if you use an Erdnase color-change you'd be left with just the X-card on top of the four Jacks. Would make cleanup even easier.

Hey Lloyd, I'm probably way off here, I'll need to rewatch the video a few times, but, for anyone (like me!) not confident with palming, would it be possible/practical to substitute the pocket blind card with the Erdnase, or would that screw up the reappearance?

One note, you could simplify the handling of the trick and remove the pocket card by just using a standard colour change for the last card to make the trick more impromptu as well as simplifying the clean up to something like a single slip cut. Still lets you do the one hand bit for the second last card but also let’s you show one hand empty and fully visible during the move.
@HOMERTINKLE
@HOMERTINKLE 10 ай бұрын
I agree ! I was thinking to myself that an Erdnase color change would work just fine, followed by a slip cut reproduction.

Wtf? Practice yer turnover pass, double lift, card culling, spread pass, riffle pass, Faro shuffle, table shuffle work... ...etc, etc. There. That's more than enough to be going on with. Absolutely loads to be practising and definitely no need to be buying dumb crap that, by the way it uses up your time, actually means you practice less on the foundational sleights and more on stupid bought crap. Effectively you end up being a less skilled magician because of that crap you bought. None of it is an alternative to learning actual foundational sleight of hand moves and practising them until you perform them really really well!

@@LloydB It's all good brother, I had asked about the Nype card but then saw your and Craig's quick mention on the podcast but then saw you actually 'doing it' on your Sunday Sesh on this channel.. Just thought it was Craig who got a card not the pair of you. That one was mainly just wanting some details on the quality of the gimmick as what I'm hearing, it's an engineering MASTERPIECE but not possible to fix/create a new one if anything happens (and from the visuals alone I was thinking this is going to be something so complicated that if you mistreat it.. You're screwed (but that's on you). Cheers cos answering that for me and letting me know it's actually well made. You plan on putting it to use and actually jamming with it? Would love a little word on it on the next Sunday Sesh as to your thoughts after 2 weeks wifh it and if able to a proper demo of it to see how easy it is to learn by seeing your progress from your first try at doing it to now. As unpolished as 'clunky' that you did it, you still pulled it off well for someone who hasn't spent weeks putting time into this. Really think it could be huge this year if it gets picked up or independently released. Also, the new Murphys trailers I've seen released for by the man himself, Oh my! 😉... Believe its his 'shade' gimmick and tutorial. You been able to have a first hand look at all mate? Appreciate you taking the time out to respond to these comments and have a back and forth... Not enough creators appreciate their audience and the small things like a reply and chat with the person who commented, it really makes so much difference along with driving up your interactions on the YT algorithm. BTW, did you see the 'puzzle' by Roddy that I was taking about? I know Craig and Ryland really enjoyed it and had Ryland perform it 👌🏼

@@LloydB I also orders the Tango £2 'bandless' coin today. No one has a review on it ANYWHERE but you spoke highly of it and trust your words. Went to Magic Box as well to make sure it was the newest version you mentioned. Was thinking about Adams Coffee cups. When Craig releases Crystallize.. Along with the 'Sweet Disposition' sugar cube.. Surely there's a MONSTER routine waiting to happen there? Just wondering if I could pass off Craig's release as sugar shakers instead and then pour some into my hand and do sweet disposition bringing in the cube... And try to incorporate the sugar ball that comes with Craig as some kinds sugar ball or something.. Or maybe prop dog can do a sugar version. With the cups and beans... You could have an amazing sugar cube load in towards the end... Use sweet disposition and push the single cube through the ceramic cup.. Making it a 'magic multiplier' cub.. Lift up and it overflows with sugar cubs 👍🏼
