That's a great story! Your teacher, Dr. Hadi, has clearly explained the fascinating history behind the discovery of vitamins. To summarize, Casimir Funk: 1. Isolated the rice bran extract (pedishing) that cured beri beri disease in birds. 2. Identified the presence of the amino group (-NH2) in the extract. 3. Initially named it "vitamine" (with an "e" at the end). 4. Later realized that not all vitamins contain the amino group, so he dropped the "e" and renamed it "vitamin". Funk's discovery and naming of vitamins have had a lasting impact on our understanding of nutrition and health. Kudos to Dr. Hadi for sharing this engaging story with you! (AIresponse)❤
