Due to Robert Lewandowksi’s poor form and the attack misfiring, they were in need of a young energetic forward who was gonna lead the line score goals and be a long term replacement for him. We all thought that he would add something different to the attack that they didn’t have and some fans wanted Lewandowksi dropped and sold immediately after they signed him. There was a lot of optimism surrounding Roque at Barcelona. So far his move to Barcelona hasn’t gotten off on the right foot. A big reason for that is down to his lack of game time, Xavi seems to prefer Lewandowksi over him and he doesn’t get any minutes off the bench these days. Apart from him they have a lot of attackers who can play on the left or right or even in both positions (Joao Felix Ferran Torres Lamine Yamal and Raphinha). Even when they had an injury crisis in attack, Xavi still benched him. Assuming Joao Felix goes back to Atletico Madrid, you throw Bernardo Silva Nico Williams and another attacker in the equation, he’s gonna rot the bench next season. Unlike other Barcelona young players he’s not being overplayed in the way in which Pedri and Gavi was. That’s the only positive, as a young player he needs to play and right now he’s not getting that at Barcelona. There’s even talk about loaning him out if the situation doesn’t change. They don’t have much to play for as they’re out of the champions league, they’re not going to win the league and you expect Xavi to play Roque a lot more, the issue is that Robert Lewandowksi is in the race to win the Pichichi meaning that he wants to play the remainder of the games just to boost his stats knowing full well that it doesn’t mean much for their season especially since he goes missing in big games and we’ll get to that later. We have to be patient with him, the situation can change, but he should go out on loan very soon if he starts next season on the bench without playing.
